DFI LANPARTY DK 790FXB-M3H5
Thought you might like to share this information on the DK 790FXB-M3H5. I started off with a Phenom II x4 945, but got hooked and so shelled out for a 955 recently so am able to share clocks and my bios settings on both CPUs.

How do you like this board, i was thinking about getting it for my new build.
Hows its quality and have you had any problems with it yet? Ive also heard that the northbridge gets stupidly hot, is this true?

Like it a lot, my first AMD board for a while. The board is well behaved , overclock recovery is good, so no real complaints.

Quality is great , as you'd expect from DFI, a lot of people seem to take against the colours but to me it's how it performs

Northbridge gets warm but no more than normal. The block can be removed and replaced with an aaftermarket cooler, leaving the heatpipes in place. This is a regular DK feature, though with the layout of the AM3 board there isn't as much space as on the Intel boards.

Thanks for the info, i generally take newegg reviews with a grain of salt (or a whole shaker of salt) but there was some amount of consistency among them on this board.

The only remaining question i have is, the third PCIE slot not being full x16, how badly will that hinder the performance of any card put there?

Can't really say tbh I'm running el cheapo crossfire with 2x HD4670, don't have anything to stick in the 3rd slot. According to the blurb it's 3-way CrossFire at x16/x16/x4 bandwidth.

There is good scalebility with 3x 16 see 3xCF HD4670 amazing scale with i7 920 LN2 action! your clearly not going toi get that , but maybe 2.75 rather than 3 times single card ?

Currently the plan is dual 4890s but if i ever wanted a 3rd i was wondering how that would workout. But i doubt ill ever need that much, or the power of 2 4890s Anyways, thanks for all the insight on this board it looks to be a solid performer.

sounds like a plan. A big investment but it should fly with those.
