Official: Overclock.net Team Fortress 2 Server Thread

Here at Overclock.net, we have the great opportunity and are lucky enough to have our own Team Fortress 2 server. This allows us to get on and play with members we know, get to know new members, and allow other TF2 players to discover OCN as well. This server is for you (you being every single member who reads this) and being such, with your participation and suggestions it can continue to be a fun place for us to hang out.


Server Information

OCN Server [500 FPS]: INSTANT JOIN

The main OCN server, for a close to vanilla (stock) game, play on this server. It is very neutral when it comes to tweaks and changes.
IP: 68.232.173.130:27015
Set Game Times: Nights at about 3PM MST (2 PST, 4 CST, 5 EST) (People are on most nights so check the server status page or sidebar gadget)
Mods: Spawn times are currently stock. Pre-round Mayhem (FF, etc.) during WFP period. HLStatsX:CE is implemented. Rankings.

Guides and Relevant Threads

• Official BUMP THIS THREAD TO START A GAME Thread - Exactly what it sounds like, just bump this thread to let people know you want to get a game going.
• Organize a Game - Other than our nightly games, feel free to make a thread and let people know when you want to play. Be sure to use a descriptive title that caters to users from multiple locations, such as 'TF2 Saturday Night, 6 MST' or similar. You can also use an old thread (that you made) and revive it by clicking Edit > Go Advanced in the OP. You can then change the title and OP to use the same thread again.
• If You Need a Mod, Post Here - Follow the format outlined in the OP and an admin will be with you shortly. Reasons include hackers, mic spammers, server problems, etc.

[OCN] 'Clan' Tag

As you are playing on the TF2 server or even on Left 4 Dead, Call of Duty 4, or any other number of multiplayer games that exist, you may and probably will see players with an [OCN] tag in front of their name. It is merely a perk to being a member of the forum and allows us to recognize and connect with each other across the great wide internets. So go ahead, add it in front or behind your name if you are a member of this forum.

To edit your name as it appears in games, click on the Settings icon at the bottom of the Steam window, whether from the program window or in-game windows (press shift-tab in game to bring it up). From there, click on the Friends tab. You can then edit your nickname and add the [OCN] tag.



Steam Groups

Overclock.net Team Fortress 2 - Public group. Contact server admins to add events. We'll usually post when the server fills up and we have some good games going.


Miscellaneous Information


To take screenshots in jpeg format, there are two ways:

1. Type the following into console (~, must be enabled in advanced keyboard options):

2. Add the following to your autoexec.cfg (found at C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\steamapps\\<your name>\eam fortress 2\f\\cfg, if it doesn't exist, paste in notepad and save to that location under that name):

jpeg_quality "100"

This will allow you to take manual screenshots using F5 (does not convert automatic round-end shots to jpeg).

How to Invite People to the Game (when the Invite to Game option is gone)

THIS MAY HAVE BEEN FIXED. Ever wanted to invite others to the game you are in but the option just isn't there? Well, I finally found out how to get it back. Apparently all you need to do is change your status and it will appear. Why this works, who knows? But there you have it, now YOU can have the Invite to Game option whenever you need it. Source

Server Commands

Commands for the Rank plugin:

"rank" to get your rank
"top20" to get the top 10
"session" to get information about your session
"help" for complete list of commands

rtv - vote to move to the nextmap
nominate - nominate a map for the round end vote
nextmap - lists the next map.


Should these command not be sufficient to accomplish what needs to be done, PM one of the admins listed above.




Please feel free to suggest other material that should go here in this thread. Also, let me know when you make a guide, tutorial or similar thread that you think would be beneficial.
