motherboard problem pls help!!!!

ok today i went out and bought a new graphics card after i installed it i tried to switch the computer on and nothing. so i removed it and replaced my old card,
still nothing,
i then checked all connections,
all connected as they should be,
the motherboard has some of its l.e.ds on,
the dimm slot indicators and the bios select led and no cpu or case fan or hd spool,
the mobo is an xfx 750a sli.
to check and see if it was the motherboard or psu that was giving trouble i removed the mobo and fitted my old ecs 6100mp v2.
this board when switched on,
the cpu fan and the case fans come on,
but no hd spool and it appears the chipset is not active. this to me looks like i have a psu problem which wires boot up the system?
i have a multimeter to check voltages

have you tried putting your mobo back on? it might just have have a wire loose that you didnt see. or maybe one of the COM Serial connectors were loose or something. i dont think it is your PSU since it loaded the other mobo.

Jm3, here is a guide that I usually follow when testing all three rails (12v, 3.3v and 5v) on a power supply: http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/guide...ing-guide.html. Do you have another power supply that you could test with?

Contagion, I think he said he wasn't getting a POST screen after powering on the second motherboard. JM3 can you confirm for us please?

Jm3, it certainly sounds like a power related issue. Try testing with a different power supply (that's assuming you have one available). Is your machine on a surge protector or a ups device?

no surge protector i need to go buy a psu and surge protector tomorrow if that dont work my new mobo is in warranty as its like 4 days old lol

is it the orange 3.3v that power the mobo chipset? all my voltages are really high compared to what they should be is that normal?

Jm3, during the installation of the new video card did you unplug the power cable from the computer? Did you ground yourself while installing the card? It's possible (very rare) that a short may have occurred during the installation.

What kind of video card and power supply are you currently running?

what kind of power supply do you have i dare to say it but do you have enough juice if you do check the black and yellow plugs with the voltometer on the 12 volt rail connectors sounds like your psu might have been the victim of voltage rolling.
