You Pick the TankGuys Profit!

I've decided to try something pretty strange

On select items, I'm running a special where you, the customer, picks how much money we make on your purchase. I've price the items a little bit *below* our cost, and have given you a drop down box to pick how much extra you want to pay as a profit to us.

The two items currently on this special:

Core i7 920 D0

Intel X25-M 80Gb SSD (I might add this is a monster upgrade, and will make FAR more of a difference than any other upgrade you can do for $300)

If you have any questions, let me know!

I have lots of respect for you guys and all, but do you actually expect us to believe that you as a vendor pay more than $305 for an i7 920? This is a great idea though, you just need to lower the price to your actual cost .

Core i7: Cost: $297, + ship (.50) + CC Fees (3%) = $306.42

X-25M: Cost: $301.50, + ship (.50) + CC Fees (3%) = $311.06

So nah, don't think I'll lower the actual cost

I should note the I7 cost for us is higher than for others, as it's more expensive for me to specifically buy the D0s. Otherwise cost would be lower.

If that is at all true how do you guys stay in business?

I'm honestly not trying to bash this thread at all, just genuinely curious.

Nice guys with guaranteed steppings. That alone will get you a ton of OCN business.

Although someone had said this is like tipping at a restaurant...while I feel it's more like tipping in the Red Light District :

I make little to nothing running it - I do it because it's fun (for the most part ) and it helps people get the stuff they otherwise couldn't. Suffice to say I won't be theatening to put Newegg out of business anytime soon!
