Why not just drive down to Micro Center and pick up a bunch of D0s for $230 each? That is far cheaper than whatever your source is now. I'd say you guys are getting screwed considering the average consumer can get the same chip for less than what you, a vendor, is buying them.

Funny you say that. A lot of new vendors try and do just that. The problem is that the manufacturers track your purchasing through the distribution channel, so you get credit, so to speak, for buying the "correct" way. So as it stands now, we move quite a bit of Intel chips, and because we purchase through the appropriate channels, Intel knows this. This is how I'm able to finagle getting early launch chips (remember last summer when we were the first and only store to have Q9450's in the US, and it lasted for nearly a month?) Furthermore, if I just went out and purchased from standard vendors, we wouldn't have the new steppings as early as we otherwise do - not to mention, that vendor would then get the credit from Intel

Ah I see. I suppose the rep in the enthusiast community is worth it. It would be nice to find some kind of middle ground though, just so you can get by and make a little money on the side.
