Boot manager is missing win7 64

Thread Starter
I had win 7 64 installed and working fine then I installed win 7 32 on another hard drive.

Since then my PC boots to that drive everytime, It used to ask me if I wanted to boot vista (which was on the drive win7 32 is on now) and win 7 64.

I went into bios and set the win7 64 drive as boot drive and all it says now is boot manager is missing..

Ok I have it installed on the x32 drive when i go into manage bootloader there is write mbr. I dont know what to do next since the drive I want to fix is not the one easybcd is installed on and there is basically no other options. The website is not much help either.

I would hope there is a way to point to the other drive.

I fixed it using the windows 7 64 install disk. I put the disk in and selected repair when it came to the screen that says install also. It then scanned to see if I had problems restarted my pc then ran again showing both win7 and it said repaired next to them or maybe it said recovered....

anyway I selected the right drive by size and selected fix then startup issues from a list of things to fix and violla 10 seconds later is said to restart. Thanks for trying to help so fast.

Just a suggestion for next time, I always have only the drive I am installing an OS on plugged in. That way the boot manager is always on that drive so instead of having a boot manager with multiple OS's on it it's just one than you can select the boot drive in the BIOS to select the one with the OS on it. Also boots faster!

So when I restart my pc and now it asks what os or HD to boot to that is because win7 detected another bootable OS on another drive?

I would ideally like it to boot to one specifice drive then if I want to boot to my second OS I just hit f8 when booting and select that drive.

That is basically what you said right? is there any way to get rid of windows 7 asking me what HD to boo to every time it restarts other than reinstalling both OS?

You can turn off OS options by going to Start> RightClick Computer> Properties> Advanced System Settings> Startup and Recovery> Uncheck "Time to display list of operating systems"

Hope that's what you're looking for.

Ghosst2501,

Glad you got it working -- if all else fails, the install disc usually will work. Also, if you ever need further assistance with Windows 7, there are Microsoft supported forums for Windows 7. To check out the forums, get some essential tips / tricks, and watch some very informative videos, check out Microsoft Springboard.
