The only flamewar that should come from this would be between previous-gen Mac owners and Apple.

Don't be too surprised if the occasional Apple troll comes in here and says "Mac isthe suxorz" though.

Is this for decoding or encoding?

If decoding, about damn time. If encoding, cool.

Now all they need is the H.264 acceleration for HQ flash, so that a YouTube video doesn't take up 90% of this Mac-I'm-on's CPU.

That would be quite nice. I think this is the first time I have agreed with you in a Mac news post

If anything, this will make Mac users unhappy at Apple. Of course, the Microsoft fanboy will come in and start saying, "Mac is the suxorz lolz buy a pc nubs."

It's inevitable.

I know Adobe was working on it with someone, I can't recall if it was Apple or Microsoft. Or maybe it was just period.

This Mac Mini stutters watching HQ YouTube videos. It's annoying.

Wasn't Apple or the QuickTime team responsible for H.264? Or am I way off?

i thought they at least helped the spread of it. im not to mad at them since my MB has the crappy intel GPU lol. I didnt really expect much support for the GPU when i bought it.

And that sux about the stuering on the mac mini, my MB with th 2.4 GHz never stutters or bogs down, i was actually surprised at how much faster it was than my friend laptop and DVD rendering seeming it had intel GPU in mine vs Nvidia in his(this being a dell, please dont start a flame war).
