Game Booster
Better Play Experience!

Designed to help optimize your PC for smoother, more responsive game play in the latest PC games with the touch of a button, Game Booster helps achieve the performance edge previously only available to highly technical enthusiasts. It works by temporarily shutting down background processes, cleaning RAM, and intensifying processor performance. That means you can keep all the features of Microsoft® Windows Vista® and XP® ready for when you need them, but turn them off when you are ready to get down to serious business – gaming. Game Booster makes it simpler to enjoy the latest games and take your experience to a new level. All systems go!

Anyone actually try this and notice faster gaming? I'm pretty skeptical about this one.

I have found that it did help games run a bit faster on my system but not much, it is supposed to help much more on older systems where any free system resources can help.

as a review said:

Even on my computer I have noticed a very slight difference when Game Booster was turned on. Just about every game ran anywhere from 1 to 5 frames per second faster with Game Booster activated. But Game Booster is not made for people who have state of the art computers. It's main function is to help all the people trying to run today's demanding PC games on older machines. When you're in the middle of a game, every single FPS counts. And, since Game Booster is free, why not use it? Downloading and installing it is a process that can be finished from start to finish in less than a minute and activating or deactivating Game Booster is just one mouse click away. I have 6 GB or RAM in my machine, and when I activate Game Booster I free up around 300 MB of that RAM. While that may not seem like a lot, imagine what 300 MB would do if your computer had only 1 GB or RAM; that actually adds up to 30% of your ram being dedicated to games instead of other programs. I'm really happy with Game Booster. I tell all my friends about it, and now, I'm also telling you. And did I mention that it is FREE? Even if you don't like the program you're not out any money; all you have to do is take a few seconds and uninstall the program (although I doubt it that you will).

hope that helps

Just tried it and got a 126 point difference in 3DMark06.
Not sure if that will translate into better gameplay though.

Update History

1.1(May 25, 2009)

+ Added 'Show All Processes'
+ Added 'Edit service list'
+ Added 'Auto minimize'
* Fixed general bugs

1.0 (Apr 21, 2009)
* Fixed several serious bugs
* Fixed general bugs

Considering they didn't catch all the "general bugs" the first time, should I be worried that they may not have found all the "serious bugs" yet?
