Have the Asus G50Vt-X5 here had it since 6-09 and i am loving it.

Bought mainly for engineering purposes to run AutoCAD 2010 and Inventor 2010 which can be graphicly demanding.

running AutoCAD with around 1000 parts in smooth shading and revolving I get about 18-40 fps so it works well.

getting 65-80 fps on MOH airbourne and 50 fps on prototype

runs cool with simple apps but on games anything to the left of you is getting burned.

even though it gets very hot I have no problem to play a game on my lap since all the heat is blown to the left away from me.

this model has a 9 cell battery.

High Performance: 1:45-2:15 hrs.
Power saver: 3:30-3:45 hrs.

and I just found out the other day i put the brightness down 2 notches on power saver and it put my battery life up to 5:15 hrs. I was amazed, I couldn't believe when i first saw it.

I don't know if anyone else has tried it but I would HIGHLY recommend it.

The only problem i have had with this laptop was my fault. I was defragging and i forgot it was unplugged and when i closed the lid it hibernated. Upon restart it said no OS found and I freaked. But all was solved in 15 min with all data safe.

has OC available in OS to OC instantly go from 2128 MHz to 2246 MHz or 2345 MHz
have noticed about about 2-5 fps gain on MOHA at 2246 MHz and 4-7 at 2345 MHz

GREAT LAPTOP would recommed getting before they run out

yeah no where really post battery times.

just make sure to charge the battery to 100% and let it drain ALL the way down at least for the first 5 times but any after that will definately extend your battery life.

mine almost after 2 months of using it everyday i still have 0% battery wear, but ive done what i said above everytime.

you bought a good comp. congrats

Instead of spamming the forums how about you find the Phone numbers to the companies like ASUS or Toshiba, etc and just call them and ask them for it

Toshiba gave me the model number for my laptop's old battery and I went and googled it and found hundreds of retailers that carry it

I also have an ASUS G50vt and its amazing for a laptop. I'm using it right now on my T240HD at 1920x1200 resolution with usb mouse and keyboard and its like having a desktop. Has any of you guys tried the mod to lower voltage for lower temps?

Hi, I am new to this site. I really do not post any place so I hope I am not posting anything stupid. I am a newboob. I am wondering how I tell which Asus G50 I have. I know from the sticker on the bottom that it is a G50Vt, but on the Asus site there is a G50Vt, a G50Vt (BestBuy), and a G50Vt-2D. I am assuming that the Best Buy model is the worst to have considering that on the G51 and the G71s the Best Buy models are $999 and $1299 on the website respectively and on other sites the non-Best Buy models run around $1500 AND $1900 respectively. I assume that the Best Buy models use inferior components to hold down on cost. I purchased mine from TigerDirect as a refurb for $749. I am very pleased. Except I can not tell which model I have and I found out that I can not register it with Asus because it is a refurb. They told me that I had a90 day warranty but that I was not able to register it. Any help with how to determine would be great!
