But in short you can tell that's going to be a disaster without even testing it as the other guy guessed .. water will take the path of least resistance so the water will travel straight down the centre of the channel and basically no flow will go into the cutouts leaving just dead water there.
That's why it has to be like the one on the right .. where the water is "forced" to take a turn. It's just a matter of finding the right compromise with the ZZ depth and length to get the beast results.
Now why does it work for the DD block i here people asking. Well thats simple they are using the design in a totally different context than i am using it in.
I am forcing the flow down the channel ( from the top of the pic to the bottom ) so it doesn't work because of the dead spots mentioned before. Where as DD are forcing the water parallel to the cut-outs (into the pic if you like) so there is no dead spots for them when you push the water in at right angles to the channels.Edited by Ultrasonic2 (muffy) - 7/25/09 at 10:04pm
