PC sound is crackling, what can i do?

I got a new MB and now the sound is crackling slightly and as its not that noticeable it is annoying when watching a movie, as i have my PC connected to the TV via HDMI. It did not happen wit the old MB

I have tried to install all the latest drivers etc but its still there

What can i do?

Get a dedicated sound card? all i need it for is music and movies

Have you tried going into the sound properties and turning down the volume to about half of max?

I would recommend a sound card.

Try disabling any unused onboard devices like serial ports, IDE, or Fireware. It could be interference from EMI or bus noise.

If one of the main uses of your computer is music, then a dedicated sound card would benefit you greatly anyway. Do it.

Before you do anything

Uninstall your graphics driver (run the ATI CCC uninstaller)


I bet you a million bucks that will solve your problem. ATI's recent update has caused something to interfere with windows audio and windows 7
