Are you guys who are currently playing it running the steam version? From what I've read, enabling crossfire requires renaming the game to crysis.exe and that isn't possible with the steam version.... should I probably be waiting until the 7th to pick up the retail copy if i want to make use of crossfire?
I'm sure that crossfire support will be available soon in an upcoming patch. Have you tried the multi-gpu workaround on the first post?

What seems to be the problem?

If you're talking about the -winxp file extension, it actually drops framerates (at least in the demo)... from 24avg to 20avg in the benchmark. I hear that performance is much better in the retail than the demo - would it play decently on my rig with only a single 4870 working? Unless the steam version receives a crossfire patch before the 7th, I'll probably just end up waiting to pick up a boxed version

Those screens look epic man... really wish i could play, but i really don't want to be disappointed by the bad performance due to a lack of crossfire support

There are documented systems running very high at playable framerates with a 939 Opteron, DDR 400, and a 4770. You shouldn't have a problem.

So the demo just sucks in comparison to retail performance, and multi-GPU support is probably just a few days away? Would you suggest I just pick it up off steam right now? I have the money ready and really want to give it a go

Purchased and installing! Might as well add me to the club... crossing my fingers on having better performance than on the demo
