So, just busted out this game. Had it on Steam for basically forever but it runs horribly on my rig.

I have turned every video setting to Low/Disabled and it still dips to 5ish FPS at times.

Any ideas?

Guess I have a few questions I downloaded the Arrowhead demo and on my sig rig it runs like crap also everything looks fuzzy not sharp at all. I also have some strange 3d resolution to chose from? Guess the game reminds me of Op FP but with all the problems I have been having, guess I need some help before I lay down that cash.

Set your 3d resolution to your actual resolution. If it looks fuzzy its probably the post processing so turn that down to low too.

I'm running everything maxed apart from post processing on low and visibility on 4000 so it should run fine on your rig.

HDR, Blur and a few other things. Go ingame and switch it between the levels and you'll see what it does.

I've officially given up hope on this game for all intents and purposes. I was really hoping that patch would have fixed things - but in the end - nothing I did tweak-wise brought this game to where I wanted (on either rig - single and crossfire setups).

To think this is only DX9 too. I don't get the blurry (THAT is one of the post processing effects - turn it to low or off to reduce the blurriness) per se' - I see dips anytime there's extreme action (like during benchmark sequence)..

The draw distance definitely helps - but I don't like playing on 7K or less (where it goes from Very High to High on detail - I like the very high)....4K and less is just way too short...unrealistic (unless you lived in a foggy area like Seattle or London or something) for the most part - negating any gains from other realistic measures in the game.

That being said - the textures popping in the way they do still looks like junk too.

Don't get me wrong - this "simulator" is worlds better that OFP...but I just can't have fun like in other games. When the graphics are set to maximum juice - ARMA II is easily the best looking game in my opinion ever (I think it's better looking than Crysis)...but with it comes heavy old DX9 code...and that kills it for me. Flying a C-130 without lag would be SOOOOO insane...

Frostbite on steroids (scope of ARMA maps for example) - with playing areas slightly larger than BF2 and I think that would be perfect. BC2 is too small - ARMA II too large...BF2 too old............

sorry for , but I've been itching to vent since I dropped a few hours in after the patch went live on Steam.

my god, this arma II operation arrowhead. I ran the benchmark in the demo, and i get 20fps average with everything turned up, except i left viewing distance at default.

hmm I restarted pc, turned off hyperthreading, and added -cpuCount=4 to launch properties and now benchmark gives me 54fps average...

Disagree with that, especially on OA. I've tried the draw distance turned up on that and it makes no difference at all because everything is always hidden behind a load of buildings or a hill. There's also the fact that the furthest you can really snipe is around 2k before it doesn't really do any damage and the furthest you can really see with the rangefinder is around that too.

That said I don't really ever fly as doing it on the keyboard isn't fun - I'd assume if you do that a lot the draw distance would help.

Seeing 4KM isn't the easiest thing in real life and you certainly cant really spot things that easy while on foot at distances beyond that.

Bought the arma 2 pack on steams sale, still waiting to DL because of the joyous 25gb DL cap but once i have it up and running i'll be happy, gawd it taxes systems though (played the demo a while ago and i could only run it on a mix of high/very high at 1680x1050)
