I've officially given up hope on this game for all intents and purposes. I was really
hoping that patch would have fixed things - but in the end - nothing I did tweak-wise brought this game to where I wanted (on either rig - single and crossfire setups).
To think this is only DX9 too. I don't get the blurry (THAT is one of the post processing effects - turn it to low or off to reduce the blurriness) per se' - I see dips anytime there's extreme action (like during benchmark sequence)..
The draw distance definitely helps - but I don't like playing on 7K or less (where it goes from Very High to High on detail - I like the very high)....4K and less is just way too short...unrealistic (unless you lived in a foggy area like Seattle or London or something) for the most part - negating any gains from other realistic measures in the game.
That being said - the textures popping in the way they do still looks like junk too.
Don't get me wrong - this "simulator" is worlds better that OFP...but I just can't have fun like in other games. When the graphics are set to maximum juice - ARMA II is easily the best looking game in my opinion ever (I think it's better looking than Crysis)...but with it comes heavy old DX9 code...and that kills it for me. Flying a C-130 without lag would be SOOOOO insane...
Frostbite on steroids (scope of ARMA maps for example) - with playing areas slightly larger than BF2 and I think that would be perfect. BC2 is too small - ARMA II too large...BF2 too old............
, but I've been itching to vent since I dropped a few hours in after the patch went live on Steam.
