GPU Air Cooling Solutions.

Thread Starter
The faster and better a GPU is nowadays, the hotter and hotter it gets.
The ATI 4870 is laughingly known as the Space Heater because of the Intense heat that emits from the Exhaust port in the back of the computer. Overclocking these monster FPS machines is very possible if you can handle the noise of the stock coolers.

SO .. This thread is dedicated to Aftermarket Solutions to your Top of the Line Video cards.. Here are just some, but not all solutions.

If you know of one that I missed please insert it into the thread and I will add it as time goes on..

The contenders are....

1. Scythe Musashi
$49.80
PRICE $49.99
Scythe MUSASHI Twin Heatpipe Low-Profile Universal VGA Cooler is compatible with both ATI and NVIDIA graphics cards. With two low-profile 100mm fans and twin heatipes, the Scythe MUSASHI is capable of cooling high performance video cards without taking up too much space. Passive heatsinks are included to cool the graphics card's memory chips

Note: There must be a minimum of 10mm clearance between the Scythe MUSASHI base and the frame the graphics card's chips.

Note: There must be a minimum of 4mm clearance between the Scythe MUSASHI and the supplemental power connector located on the graphics card.

2. Thermalright T-Rad2 Six Heat Pipe Universal Video Card Cooler - SLI/CrossFire Ready (NVIDIA / ATI) PRICE $52.99

The Thermalright T-Rad2 Six Heat Pipe Universal Video Card Cooler is an ultra thin video card heatsink designed to have as much surface area as possible while being small enough to cool SLI or CrossFire setups. The cooler utilizes six heat pipes and uses nickel plating to reduce oxidation for increased longevity for the cooling capacity. The cooling fins are soldered directly to the all copper base to improve thermal transfer rates. Users can choose to use one 120 mm fan or two 92 mm fans to cooling their card.

Two Thermalright TR-SL-92-1500 fans are included!

3.Arctic Cooling Accelero XTREME 4870X2 VGA Cooler (ATI Radeon HD4870X2)
Price: $69.99
Extreme Cooling Performance
Outstanding cooling comes from outstanding components. The Accelero XTREME 4870X2 is equipped with three 92mm PWM fans running from 1,000 to 2,000 RPM, generating 81 CFM airflow which allows the fans to remove the heat from the two GPUs efficiently. The eight-heatpipe design also improves heat dissipation and achieves 320 Watts cooling capacity. The result is significant – the GPU temperature is 50°C lower than with the stock cooler. This enhances not only the overclock performance, but also extends the service life of your valuable graphics card.

Quiet cooling guaranteed
By using the low noise impeller and patented fan holder, the three 92mm PWM fans are incredibly quiet.

4. Xigmatek Battle Axe aka... The Quarter Pounder..

5. Zalman Z-Machine GV-1000

Z-Machine GV1000 More ZM-RHS90 VF950 LED VF2000 LED ZM-RHS70 ZM-RHS50 VF1000 LED ZM-RHS88 VNF100 VF900-Cu LED VF900-Cu VF700-Cu LED VF700-AlCu LED ZM-VHS1 VF700-Cu VF700-AlCu ZM80D-HP ZM-RHS1 ZM80C-HP

Use of four high performance heatpipes maximizes heat transfer.

The product is equipped with Zalman’s patented VFP (Variable Fin Profile) technology. Fan installed inside the heatsink maximizes the cooling efficiency and the product’s maximized dissipation surface area provides excellent performance.

1) Use of four high performance heatpipes maximizes heat transfer.
2) Pure copper thin fins (0.3mm) for excellent cooling performance.
3) Cools not only the VGA chipset and VGA RAM, but all other VGA components as well.
4) 80mm Slim LED Fan for excellent performance and great aesthetics.
5) Newly improved installation structure provides easy installation and broad compatibility.
6) Adjustable fan speed controller(FAN MATE 2) enables control of noise and fan speed.
