Hypertransport Sync Flood Error

Thread Starter
While I know that this might not be entirely related to memory issues, HT does often get adjusted for memory stability. I was wondering if anybody else has experience this error - "A hypertransport sync flood error occurred on last boot, press F1 to continue"? I've had it occur 2 times in as many days and I can't seem to turn up anything on it. I find posts dating back at far as 2007 on this error (Vista related?) but no real solutions (mostly on the MSI forums, LOL). Everything has been stable up until this point.

The first time, I was playing a game called Combat Arms online with a buddy of mine, the second just happened about 30 minutes ago when I was surfing the net. This is happening to my sig rig and I've given some extra specs below, I can provide more information if needed.

AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition, ASUS M4A79T Deluxe (BIOS 1303), ASUS EAH4890 Voltage Tweak, 4x2Gb Mushkin DDR3-1600 (996601), 2xWD 320Gb, 1xWD 120Gb HDD, 1xWD 1Tb My Book, Samsung 22x DVD-RW (SH-S223Q), MadDog 18x DVD-RAM (TS-H653B), Netgear RangeMax Next Wireless WN311T, and Windows Vista Ultimate x64 SP2.

I have the same error as well
with the same mother board M4A79T Deluxe (bios 1303)
AMD Phenom II X4 810
ASUS 4770 X2
Kingstan DRR3 1333 2G X2
windows 7 64bit

this is the first time it occured after I upgrade the bios (from 07xx to 1303)

So here are some things that migth solve your problem.

1. Probably need just a little more CPU NB voltage
Possibly even a little more NB or HT voltage

2.Try stock settings on your cpu

3. Try the fail safe defaults

4. migth be a permanent hardware failure

I was having random lockups and didn't know what it was, then I updated my bios and now I at least get a message and its the same as above.

After doing some googling, some people contacted both asus and amd, and it point to a possible faulty memory controller on the cpu.

Either that, or our bios' aren't setting memory automatically in the bios. I for one am not even OC'ed so everything is on auto and I am getting this error.

I just learned though, that there was an even newer bios just released. Going to try that and then manually setting my memory.

Memtest is flawless btw.

Not quite the same board but I was getting the same message, dropped my OC from 3.5 to 3.4 and still had the problem. Kept dropping til I got it rock solid at 3.2 but don't really have more time to devote to it now, so try dropping the OC a bit and see if that fixes it

Well I went in and learned that on [AUTO] all my memory settings were jacked. I was at 667 mhz at crappy timings and an okay voltage I guess.

Put everything where it should be and I have to say, my computer is a lot snappier now.

Just have to try to get that error now.

Heh posted 2 weeks ago and no response, wiped and reinstalled Vista since then. Well I just had the error again and did some more Googling and found this on the Princeton Solaris/Unix troubleshooting page:
  • "Hypertransport Sync Flood occurred on last boot: Uncorrectable ECC error caused the last reboot. For x64 systems, check the service processor's System Event Log and BIOS log to identify the culprit."

Although this is not a Windows OS, the general troubleshooting principles should still apply. It would seem to me to be an error with either the way the cpu is handling things, the memory, or the motherboard. I'm leaning toward the motherboard since I found that a number of MSI motherboards (particularly the K9N) seemed to have the same problems about 2 years ago.

EDIT: Just found this article, scroll about 3/4 the way down and the guy RMA'd his motherboard and hasn't had an issue since.

EDIT2: I just emailed ASUS a Technical Inquiry, so we shall see what comes of it.

Well I got a reply back from ASUS. Basically telling me to do everything I've already done:

"Hello Sir/Madem

Thank you for your support of our products!

The first thing that you will want to try is clearing CMOS when that error first comes up. Also if that does not work you also might want to look and see if their are any bios updates at support.asus.com that will fix the problem that you are having.

Regards,

Anybody else have a better idea? I'm thinking more and more that it's a motherboard issue, pulling RAM and waiting for it to occur again is not really an option since this occurs randomly and without any warning.

I might have to agre with you, when I first looked into it, I was finding a bunch of users using both of our mobo's having the same issues.

(sorry for my English): Hi, I am new here, I am having same problems... "A hypertransport sync flood error occoured on last boot." I noticed this error just in two cases, both are games. The first game is Colin McRae: DiRT and second one is Need for Speed: Shift.

I haven't overclocked my PC yet, so i think it won't have anything to do with yours voltages and clocks , PC is brand new. My tempreatures are O.K (CPU 50°; GPU 60°; System 30°).

PC Specs:
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition ~ 3,4GHz
Corsair XMS3 DHX CM3X2G1600C9DHX
EAH4870 1G
Asus M4A79T Deluxe
CoolerMaster 650W Power Supply
1TB Samsung storage
LG DVD/RW mechanic

// It does randomly, it always does in first 20 minutes, game freezes, display goes black, pc restarts and in bios loading this error occours.

So guys please if you will find any way how to fix this, or what is problem, please contact me at email: hegysk@gmail.com or ICQ: 471-781-699. Or here i will mark this site as Favourite.

Thanks.
