Funny you would do that, because I did the exact thing to my Antec 900 before I bought these. The foam actually does work quite well, but after a while, it was just too much of a PITA to clean them with a hairy cat.

which solution is more effective: (airflow, filtered dust)
1. stockings
2. metal mesh filter

U should try cutting the foam so it fits inside the bay covers individually. a little more work, but it won't fall off anndd it looks a little less... haphazard?

Good idea with the foam as well as the pantyhose...Going to have to try that myself. Personally the only thing I had that seemed would work is some medical gauze.

I used panty hose before and it is awesome, not very restrictive and keeps all the dust out and you can filter 3 fans or so with one.

I have used Dryer anti static/cling sheets. They work OK but not the best. I think I have to try the Panty hose trick. Now all I have to do is ask my girlfriend if she has a black pair she can spare.

thanks for the idea about the pantyhose was going to go out and buy filters as im adding 2 new fans to the side of my rig. but ment i couldn't have the finger gards i wanted but now i can.

It's a fine nylon mesh that you can buy in sheets. I imagine the results would be very similar to pantyhose, but it might be easier to cut to size for larger windows since it is available in sheets.
