The real Green Machine (lots of pics, have fun 56K) - Page 15

I hear ya.
The only things I will be insulating is the back of the mobo with conformal spray and some silicone to close up the neoprene, that's it. I can't be arsed with anything else, except for the obvious neoprene itself.

I'll add a layer of 3mm neo over the entire CPU region, only leaving the dies free, then build up from there.

My secondary rig roasted itself for good on Saturday night: The already fried nf4 chipset from the K8N4-E gave up it's last life sign, but thank god I have a K8N4-E Deluxe as a backup. I also got a P5N-E SLI for the E5200, but weirdly enough I don't get any video signal, so I'll be RMA'ing that bish and see if I can get a UD3P instead. The P45 has two x16 slots too, and I don't really need SLI, I just want to fold with two GPU's. That should be possible, right?

I admire your bravery on so many levels. I was scared lapping my IHS and lapped the Dies!

The FTW boards are amazing and really help with overclocking. Depending on your temperatures once you get this TEC up and running, I may copy what you've done.

Good luck with the rest of the build! Subbed.

New board came today. It looks exactly the same except for the 100% solid state capacitors. I'm interested in the extended BIOS features.

I'm off to get another TRUE now, as Thermalright are being twats about replacing the upper mounting bracket, even for cash.
At least I'll have an expendable TRUE for the "sanding to heatpipe" thread.

EVGA board up and running with non-TEC cooling (for now). DAMN this BIOS rocks!

Does anyone have a working link for the newest BIOS update? ftp://ftp.evga.com/bios/E178_SZ17.exe Doesn't work =|

I already got it, but thanks

It seems that now my N/2 multiplier option is greyed out. Not good news. I'm currently researching the EVGA forums about htis, while W7 installs...

What's an f-stop?

Alright guys. Same 3.825GHz settings.

I just installed the new mobo, reformatted and reinstalled everything and did the bolt through mod. With lapped dies and lapped TRUE I maxed out at 66°C after a 5x2gb linx run. better than the 71-72°C that i had before (without bolt through).

Now I just installed the TEC unit as Ultrasonic2 posted: wrapped in electric tape with minor insulation around the cold plate. The mobo is untouched (non insulated).

On 10V, I'm idling at 25-32°C. The coldplate has 2.5°C, the hotplate is at 38°C (with lapped TRUE ontop). I'm guessing that the contact isn't ideal, I may need more pressure.

Load temps after the same 5x2GB linx run max out at 55-60°C, which is way too high compared to the cold plate's temp.

I'll be reseating the TEC block before upping the voltage. Bear with me.
are you saying the cold plate is 2.5c at load ?

And whats your ambient temps ?

No the CP was 2.5 at ambient.

I just reseated the setup and added some nylon washers to the bolt mounting, although the seating was very good already (full contact to the dies etc).

Right now I'm idling at around 1.5°C at the CP and 38°C at the HP, the cores are still between 25 and 32°C. All at 10V

Max Load temps are:
21°C CP
44°C HP
58-60°C cores.
