Hardly any load temps & near enough 100% load temps, converting a huge res H.264 MP4 file to H.264 avi to work on my S9 while photoshopping, it only took about 3 minutes to do one whole pass :O

New motherboard installation & cable management

Lots of thermal paste, you cant go wrong there.

Arctic Freezer 7 Pro @ my Q6600

Finished with new asus mobo inside, looking good so far.

Cable management - the wires were rediculously tangled & others were falling out etc, I fixed that... this is 2 hours later :|

Size comparison against my Dimension 8400 (:O)

Dude that is too much thermal paste. You should put a pea sized dot in the middle, push the heatsink on it, then turn it like 90 degrees both ways. Then screw it down and the heatsink will spread it evenly. Also are you going to be lapping the heatisink/cpu?

Nahhh, im not gonna be lapping anything, as of yet im confused about how to actually do it (dont you sand the CPU/cooler or something? :S) & I'd probably end up killing my pc if I tried it haha.

alssooo, ill try re-applying the thermal paste

Well i wouldnt lap the cpu because you void the warranty. I dont know if the ac freezer 7 needs lapping. But i would reseat that heatsink with less thermal paste. the way you did it is likely to give you bad temps because too much=higher temps but also its likely to bubble.

Lapping guide:

As soon as u pushed that cpu heatsink down that paste went all around and some will actually end up outside and could cause damage.

Cards the best way imo, you can get better temps too with the proper amount of TP next time you reseat your HSF try a lil less paste.

Exactly. You dont want to spread TIM like some guides say anymore. Especially AS5 as it has conductivity problems and if that gets down in the pins your board could be a good paperweight.

Thanks for the info (Y) but I checked that as soon as I did it as I thought it would be too much and theres none coming out the sides etc (I made that mistake with my gigabyte board and had to clean it all off)

@BioHzrd - Isn't 30 degrees celsius good for an idling q6600? My brother is on the stock intel heatsink and he gets like 40 degrees celcius while idling :|

@ckybam3 - I have heard that AS5 is less conductive than most thermal pastes isnt it? (sorry if Im the one confused and your actually saying its not conductive which isnt good )

Thanks for the help again guys,
Dan
