Hey all. The last of my new parts are comming in in about 30 mins and wanted to know what everyone thinks of the parts. Here is the list

CPU - Phenom X2 II 550BE with stock cooling for now(will try to unlock)
MB - Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P
Ram - G Skill DDR3 4Gig(2x2) 1600Mhz
GPU - XFX GTX 275
PSU - Corsair 650w(from old system)
Case - ABS Monolith with extra Delta 120x38 rear and delta 92x25 front intake
HD - WD 250Gig wd2500ks(from old system)
DVD - IDE DL Lite-on(from old system)
Monitor - 24" 2ms 1920x1200
Keyboard/Mouse - G11 and rx1000 mouse(from old system)
headset - HP-259(ya know these ones...http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...502&Tpk=hp-259 Dont bash em unless u have owned them...they acually sound pretty awesome)
so...what do ya think..

Things i will be upgrading in the near future is the front intake fan to a 120mm delta, new Velociraptor HD's in raid 0, and new sata DVD drive..ohh yea respond if ya want me to post pics of me putting it all together..

thanks n1helix, still have lots of room for improvments but hope to keep this build(minus small upgrades needed) for a while...well till january anyways

i think that u should have just a slightly better cpu for your gpu cuz i have a phenom II 955

for an evga gtx 275

I wouldn't bother unlocking it with a stock cooler. The cooler is meant for low wattage dual cores..am I right? You might be able to lock it, don't stress it to much and use Harware Monitor CPUID to keep an eye on the temps... Otherwise very sensible build, although I thought you need the newer SB to unlock anything..

No the UD3P and UD4P are famous for unlocking.

He doesn't need a better cpu for his gpu soley because you have a 955 with your gpu. That makes sense.


Your CPU is perfect, and even if it doesn't unlock you will be able to OC it right up to or near 4Ghz, and no, you wont be bottle necking your gpu at that speed.

I think you did a fine job picking out your parts (although I like ATi better ) so grats and enjoy!


Edit: Yes, your board is a big unlocker, rest assured you're fine in your choices.

what i ordered is what i could afford(ie why i didnt get a better cpu cooler) and parts should be here in about 20-30 mins
