would be great if this game had some multiplayer...like a friend could take over one of your party members or they could join as their own character.

the fade is a royal pain in the ass btw

It's not complicated. The game is actually rather straight forward, heck I was hoping it would be more complex. As for the Fade, (IMHO) it is one of the few things they did really well...

Aside from Shale and to a lesser extent Alistair, I found the other companions too archetypal -IE cliched-, Sten perhaps the worst. Though it did make for decent comic relief at times(intentionally vague).

I find it utterly annoying how hard they made this game, its simply rediculous.
Ser Cauthrien(SP?) encounter at Howe's estate was freaking bad arse, she constantly crit'd my tanks for 155+ not to mention the room was full of archers too. That was the first time my entire party got wiped and I had to reload. So the second go I used my main Blood mage/Spirit healer -> blood wound then the combo spells Storm of the century and Paralysis explosion to keep the baddies inside the mayhem(~120 electric dmg per round).

If you like to micromanage, make things go boom and/or engage in tough battles on higher difficulty settings then mage is the only way to go. I think my mage has done 85% of the dmg...

Though I did start a new warrior character the other day.

dual wielding long swords + momentum + dual striking = . Not to mention I like the slow-mo kills on tough baddies/bosses when I land the final blow

Well my main team is 2 mages, wynn & morrigan along with alistair & my warrior.
So 2 mages & 2 sword/shield based warriors.

Wynn is more of a healer tho.

Guess i'm gonna need some fire resistance stuff, barely have gold tho.
And i cant open much chests either.
How do i train my lockpick skills anyway?

Make sure to use the fire balm pots they helped me a lot with the first dragon.

I think it took me about 10 tries on hard difficulty before I downed her, and when I did I had only Wynne left alive with 20% hp left.

I think I'm cheating a bit though, my main is a mage with all his points in entropy and blood magic, one point in healing... He puts out so much control that it's ridiculous... Morrigan my other mage is specced the way she comes from the start with some extra cold spells doing damage... Using Allistair as my tank and Wynne as my healer.

With this group make up, I've found that most fights in hard difficulty are actually quite easy, some fights though can be incredibly hard. The only time I've gone down to easy difficulty was for a two fights in the fade which were exceedingly difficult with only one character.

You don't train your lock pick skills per se, just point points into stealing.

Yeah the mages make it pretty easy, it's not even about the fact that they do so much damage, being able to put a group of enemies asleep and then use waking nightmare to have them fight each other is pure awesome. I'm planning on starting a 2handed wielding warrior for my next play through on nightmare difficulty. After getting use to the game, hard difficulty isn't so bad.

You need to have a Rogue in your party and have points in the Deft Hands talent tree, Leliana is a good choice (if I remember correctly she already has points in Deft Hands when you first get her). A high Dex and Cunning score adds bonuses. Deft Hands also allows you to spot and disarm traps.

***slight spoilers*** (for anyone that hasn't got past the Brecilian Forest)

Damn.
I'm about to restart this thing. I think I may have jumped to a quest over my head. And to get this out of the way.. yes, I think I qualify as 'suck' for this game. But I'm playing on normal and am a Warrior class human using dual-weapons. I started off going to the Brecilian Forrest and the ruins to fight the werewolves. I posted a few pages back about having huge problems with the little dragon there. I re-played it numerous times and ended up finally eeking out killing that thing. Used all my health poultices in the process. Now I'm like two chambers away fighting undead skeletons and there is like 20+ of them. I like literally have no way of defeating them. I've played it multiple times and the best I can do is knock out ~ half of them and I'm toast. Not having health poultices is mainly to blame.

Did I take on the Brecilian forest quest too soon? My crew just seems horribly underpowered here. I've only got to upgrade Morrigan once and she's my only mage. So I have like no AoE spells to speak of and tanking enemies is definitely not working.

Frustrating.

Is the texture in this game really that low? I already set all the config to high, but it texture still looks very bad. Is there something wrong with my game?
