You can put your companions on hold and go through the entire level yourself.. A lot of people do it for fun and challenege...

Try it on nightmare difficulty though, afaik one of the only ways to do it is as a rogue.

I finally beat the game today, 49 hours on the save but Steam shows me at 70 hours play time total and the game only shows me at 48% complete...

I'll probably start a new character around winterbreak as a Dwarf Warrior on Nightmare difficulty.

GOTY for me, awesome in every way. I have to agree with another poster here also, the graphics in the zones gets considerably better the later into the game you get.

Smug.

Shield bashed. In the face.

Not so smug anymore.

Forget the Jarvia, Branka, and the archdemon. This is the hardest fight in the game. Thankfully it's entirely optional and while the level that follows losing is interesting, killing her there extremely satisfying.

What annoys me is that very little work was put into the winning option. You get a new line of dialog from your companions and Anora but you still have to work for her, instead of being directed by the Arl to go to the alienage.

Worse: killing Cauthrien means a conversation with Riordan doesn't trigger and you cannot get to the grey warden vault. I only realized that after doing the alienage so I had to go back to an old save and intentionally lose the fight. Infuriating.

On the fight itself: Sten is the best character, bar none, to kill her with. I went with a pure strength build and gave him two handed starfang for sick damage and armor penetration. The problem is that she loves to go after Sten and I hadn't picked up disengage. My blood mage/arcane warrior fully buffed tanked her fine with a constant supply of health and mana (this is on hard) while alistair survived between three and four hits. Leliana didn't make it out of the hallway.

I couldn't kill her and her posse, tried about 5 times on hard mode and couldn't do it... She was just too strong, I think they made her ridiculous on purpose for that fight so you would die. Even if you agree to her though, you still have to fight her later on

I couldn't kill her on my previous playthroughs. I had to potion tank and kept dying when she was at about 20% health no matter how hard I tried. The trick I used is to run into one of the back rooms. She follows, so do a few guards. Doable but still much harder than at the landsmeet.
I know some people have managed to take out the entire room with mass aoe but you also need maxed out physical resistance to survive the mass stun of doom. I can't be bothered.

You're definitely encouraged to lose or surrender but hey, the option is there.

From the escape from fort Draken: Morrigan a nun, who'd've thought.

Is it always Leliana and Morrigan that rescue you? I thought it was the two members of your party who had the highest approval rating.

You don't have to be rescued, you can escape too

You can pick any two. Depending on who you pick it may lead to some amusing conversations. Not all combinations work mind you.

Sten: we are delivering... (pause) ...something.
Oghren: ah sod it.
