The JBTextures don't impact game performance because they are the same resolution as vanilla. He just sharpens them with Photoshop. It turns out well for the most part but some really low res textures come out looking overly sharpened.

I really didn't notice a difference in those two pictures at all lol.

Maybe it's just me though. Course I didn't think the game looked all that bad to start with anyway. It's no Crysis or anything but for a RPG I thought it looked pretty damn good.

Did they release a patch yet to fix the loading issues and stuff?
Im not touching this game untill its fixed, it really killed the game experience for me.

What loading issues? And they have released 2 patches: http://social.bioware.com/page/da-patches

Theres the details. I havent noticed any problems loading anything though. Smooth as can be...

I hear people talking memory leaks all the time.

I have no issues whatsoever. I have a sneaking suspicion that its not a memory leak, but I obviously can't confirm because I have 0 issues on my setup.

Cant say I saw a significant difference either. Im not sure I'll worry bout this mod right now.

Hopefully something like Oblivions's Qarl texures is made for DA:O.

What is it with Bioware? Poor textures are becoming their m.o. The difference in textures in Mass Effect was almost bush-league. Nobody in testing thought to say -- 'uh, great story and game and all but, uh, why does half the textures look great and the other half look like mud?'

They were bought out by EA and the focus is on shipping as many units as possible across as many platforms you can. Sooooooo to save time/resources/all that crap they have all most identical coding for the 360 and PC.

Now Ive seen DA on the PC and on the 360 and the PC is superior but you can defiantely tell they didnt go full out with it. Youre basically getting the 360 textures at a higher resolution which is why it looks like garbage in some parts.

Mass Effect was way worse. The shadows, resolution, textures and what have you are identical to that of the xbox. It would be super depressing if the storyline wasnt so great.

Because the coding for xbox and PC are so similar they can get away with using fewer resources, make fewer coding changes, release the game quicker and make more dollars doing it that way. Apparently EA didnt wan to release the toolset but the community and bioware said that was a MASSIVE mistake so they gave in to that.

Another rumor floating around was that they didnt want the PC version to be so much better than the console version that no one spent the extra 10-15USD to get the xbox or psiii version. So they dulled it down slightly with out making it terribly grotesque and here we are.

Its still a great product. The textures arent super mind blowing but I wouldnt say they are terrible. Especially for a game of this magnitude and size trying to do to much would cause some serious crashification on older systems and people would get overly frustrated they couldnt "maxout" the settings. Not what I would have dont but its understandable from a marketing perspective.

Sorry about the long post but thats what their justificaiton has been based on other fourm posts and press releases.
