As always results will vary, even between identical batches. However, the 3849Bs do seem to be quite strong. Not quite the top of the top, but well above the more recent batches. The 39xxxxxxx dies made this year don't seem to be doing so great (with the occasional exeption), and if you order from a place with high volume/turn over, your chances of getting one of these newer/worse batches is higher.
Wow, thanks dude... I really hope I ca get a decent one when I start building.

I guess my only hopes will be Tank Guys, or a lucky trip to Fry's...

I can confirm this. My 3913B216 won't break 4GHz with even 1.35V.

Does anyone know what the chance of receiving a DO stepping i920 from NewEgg is? My friends say almost all the new ones are coming w/ this stepping, but I can't find confirmation of this.

It should be a 99.99% chance. I asked them a while ago, and they confirmed that all they ship is D0 stepping. What's more important is the batch you receive.

Thanks for the info. I ended up going to a local Central Computers where you can actually see the batch number and S-spec before purchase. I know I have the good stepping but am not sure about the batch, #3938A507

I'm sure it'd do fine. I'd personally try to find one from the B batch, but some A's are above average.
