Does anyone have suggestions on mounting some 2.5" SSD's in the Tempest Evo? Bought two to replace my aging 3.5" HDD's. Also looking to replace the stock 140mm fans up top. Recommendations? rolleyes.gif

I have no Idea where to start to find these in stores that ship to your location. sorry frown.gif

If you want good lighting from the 140mm fans and good airflow I'd say it's impossible most 50+CFM 140mm fans with LEDs aren't bright enough or aren't quite white. However If you do Like I did and get some 140mm to 120mm converters you can drop some 120mm inside the case and get these: LINK

If you don't want LEDs on your 140s then either of these are amazing: Xigmatek Cougar

I apologize for the double post but this needs it's own post.

I am currently looking at other case mods and thought, As a PC enthusiast I'm always cleaning/rewiring my computer and I get tired of unscrewing the panel to take it off.

The Idea:
Take the clear acrylic panel and make it swing open. thumb.gif

The Problem:
I have no idea on how to do it. I figure I want Magnetic clips which are a walk in the park on a Sunday to install, some hot glue and a craft section fridge magnet or two, The hinges however have me stumped. If anyone has any Ideas please post as I'm headed off to walmart this evening and I bet this will be easy enough that I'll have the mod done before I head off to bed by midnight.

I don't plan on replacing the stock 140's with LED variants, the light from my CCFL installed in the top of my case provides enough lighting as it is, I'm just looking for replacements with good airflow, and will be removing the stock mesh up top for some wire finger guards smile.gif here's hoping nothing will fall into it haha

EDIT: I'm loving this new proposed mod! biggrin.gif

got any ideas on how I would hinge the door? And if you can I'd definitely go for the cougar fans cause they generate good pressure and move alot of air.

EDIT: Lol I just ordered the 140mm wire guards as well...

EDIT 2:
Just found out the side panel mod won't work as the acrylic side panel would have to open inwards because of how it's shaped. frown.gif

Could you not mod the entire side panel so that it hinges? Or would that require too much work? I'm not sure on how to do it myself. And I'll definitely take a look at the fans you mentioned, just need to find someplace to get them from. Curse living in the UK! I really need to figure out a way of mounting my new SSD's as well.

Yeah I picked up some hinges from Walmart and some magnetic clips just in case, And as per your request for Ideas on mounting the drive(s) use a small amount of Velcro Tape that's what I did...

Sweet, I've toyed with the idea of turning it into a hinged door too, but my modding skills are nowhere near enough to even try that. However, I really need to cut a little bit of the lower tab off, whenever I open my case, it takes a lot of pushing to replace it.

The velcro tape method sounds good, it'l mean I can remove the other HDD cage, improving airflow thumb.gif

If you can, A good place to mount the SSD would be on the bottom of the dvd drive if you have enough space cause routing the cables would be a piece of cake.
