I bought 1x 120mm nano fan for my side panel for exhaust as your suggest....This nano fan runs max at 2400rps at 86cfm...When i connect this to my NZXT Sentry Lx fan controller, this nano fan runs only max at 2100rpm i guess its bcoz Nzxt Sentry Lx fan controller has only a maximum of 6W per channel but i dont mind it as long as it reach 2k+ rpm...
Now' my only problem is, when i run my nano fan at 2000rpm, my nzxt fan controller beep and my nano fan halt or just stop for a while and when i touch the center (the one that has a sticker) damn' its h0t' and when im trying to rotate the fan blades, iv notice its hard somewhat like its stuck and need to force it just to rotate it...what i did was turn the fan controller into zero rpm just to let the fan rest and run again for just 1000rpm and it works....i was just wondering why this nano fan that could run at 2400rpm would just halt down when you run it at 2000+ rpm using fan controller? do you think bcoz im using NZXT Sentry Lx fan controller? any idea guys? thanks... thumb.gif

If you have a 12v Molex adapter for the fan I'd suggest running it maxed out for awhile to see what happens, although my guess it that the fan itself is malfunctioning by the way it sounds. I do not believe that in my experience I have ever seen a fan controller make a fan lock up. What seems to be happening is that the fan is not oiled enough or there is defect causing it to heat up a lot more than usual and thermal expansion makes the fan lock up.

This sounds about right. I've never had a fan warm up before, so something is definitely wrong there. If possible I'd recommend you see if you can get in touch with where you boguht it, see if they will replace it for you.

Double post because it's off the topic of my last post. wink.gif

In other news I have completely rewired my tempest again and I must say that the back of my case looks a ton better now. I still have to try and resolve a problem with my panel not closing properly but I figure if I flip the 24Pin cable to the other side of the routing holes it should close fine. Another problem I noted was that the motherboard tray cutout on the back is not positioned very well for this motherboard, if things don't go well I may have to cut up the rear panel. rolleyes.gif

And on an awesome note I have switched over to the Intel platform, I am impatiently waiting for my CPU, RAM, and sound card to arrive Friday and Saturday. wheee.gif

I have been in contact with Dwood, one of our very professional Artisans here on OCN about getting two GTX Backplates custom made. I have also decided to get into Sketchup and design a new side panel window to be customized by another very capable artisan here. I heard someone here was interested in having a logo etched into their side panel and wouldn't know if they were still interested in this. whistle.gif

That backplate looks awesome!

Also, the side panel sketch idea was me (a good while ago), though i'm not sure it'd suit the different direction of the build now.

Well I got as far as getting the window cut out of the side panel in sketchup when I realized that I would need a new side panel because of all the "modifications" I've made to the old one. So I'll need to order a new side panel before I order a custom acrylic panel. I mean I could order the window but all the holes I've drilled in the old one would upset the look. I'm tempted to order a BNIB tempest evo and use that for parts. rolleyes.gif

Anyways here's my progress on the side panel, If I end up getting a new tempest for parts I may just use the new tempest to help me build a model of it in sketchup. biggrin.gif

If anybody here or anybody you know has a Tempest laying around shoot me a P.M. with price and shipping, I am taking offers from the US48 only because of shipping costs. sorry that I can't do international. redface.gif

A thought just occurred to me. Fateful, would the person here on OCN that you've contacted to make custom backplates for your GPU's also be able to potentially make custom blanking plates for motherboards? I lost mine a long while ago, and haven't the faintest idea of what to do about a replacement redface.gif

Blanking Plates? I don't even know what that is. headscratch.gif

Idk, but you can ask him yourself his username is "Dwood", or you can reply here in his official thread.

Hmm, maybe it's just me that knows the part by that name tongue.gif I meant an I/O shield for the motherboard, if that makes more sense smile.gif

Anyway, thanks for the reference, I'll definitely have to ask him sometime soon about it!

Hope your hunt for a spare Tempest goes well thumb.gif

Conacted Dwood about getting a replacement I/O plate for my motherboard made for me. He replied a few days ago sayng he'd be happy to once I get the measurements down fo him! Unsure what to do about painting it though, let him do it? Do it myself? Or use that little bit of carbon fibre wrap I have lying around... hmm.

I've also sanded down the areas of my fan that was damaged from the snapped blade. On closer inspection, it seems other parts were damaged too. The other Cougar fan has chipping, and so did my recently-finished ODD. Sanded the damaged areas on them too, with luck I can paint them tomorrow!
