More progress ........
Fitted the 1155/1156 Watercool backplate.
Missed the mark on one of the mini cutouts, never mind was only for air cooling heat sink swap out anyway (not likely now !!)
Stand-offs I had were either too short or too long BUT I did have some with double female ends which were perfect height, so I screwed in from back 1st, might come in handy as saddle clip anchor points (we'll see later)
Limited Editon Heatkiller 3.0 fitted to motherbaoard
Motherboard fitted into case.
Added 120mm rear rad which wasn't there previously (2 or 3mm clearance between fitting and top of GPU back-plate - PERFECT !!)
Re-routed tubing to/from cpu (had inlet / outlet wrong way around previously)
BUT not enough white tubing, ordered more and waiting.
Installed the Koolance Quick disconnects on the outlet of bottom rad (going to GPU) so I still have a drain point (2 actually in system)
Didn't want to take out the slim Scythe fan at rear of case (wiring) think will actually be easier (and more cooling efficient to put another fan in front of the rad and wire up the new fan. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
What are your guys thoughts on tubing options I have??
I thought about stealthing all the tubing black, as I have black tubing on hand.
I have ordered more white tubing, which is still probably best option for this build.
I also have clear tubing and blue dye dye. I'm not a fan of dyes any more so don't like this option.
OR clear tubing with distilled
Got bit excited with stuff back in the case, so filled up the loop and CURRENTLY RUNNING A LEAK TEST on fittings.
30 - 40 mins bleeding air from system, now the D5's are running silent on setting number 4
Sata data cables from SSD's are easy.
Sata cable to the optical drive is doing my head in atm.
Am going to Ni-doc the optical drive, and probable Ni-Doc (carbon fiber) the floor also (save painting)
What you guys think about floor with Ni-doc
Few things missed out - Bitspower LED power supply - so no custom LED lighting, but will put a few "mood" lights in there somewhere.
What else is there to go ??
No leaks detected at this stage
As expected after few hours running the pumps generating bit of heat and warming the loop up.
Seemed like good a time as any to crank up all the fans any monitor them also.
Pop and smoke + that horrible smell of fried components.
The touch screen display crapped itself
Guess that I got a couple pins mixed up when I shorted the cable from fan controller to the display.
Open screen case up, and everything in there looks ok BUT I know it can't be.
Spent time with multi meter to try and find problem with cable but can't find problem with it.
Wierd because all was running fine few weeks ago.
Fan controller is still working perfect, so guess that will be no display OR way of controlling fans now
EDIT on UPDATE
Well I double checked my wiring pins and got multi meter working properly and I got everything bang on perfect - which is a relief
So I plugged the touch screen display back in to the controller.
Working again now, but very dim, guess there is a backlit light of some kind for display that went Kapoot earlier.
Wonder if NZXT would spring for a new display if I wrote to them ?? doubtful - given that I have modified everything a fair bit - but all still working perfect except that their screen failed.
Do you guys know if an NZXT rep is an OCN forum member ?
EDIT... found NZXT rep - XNine
