I know, I've done a few things. Granted there is more slack I can pull, it's not necessary.

For example, The IDE Cable is necessary for me to have and my power supply has a god awful amount of cables.

Your system looks great!

I like how the side panel fan looks with the UV effect, I wish my UV cathode had that kind of effect on my PC.

My guess is that with some extra time on your hands and a few more zip-ties, you could tidy up the cables just a little bit more.

Overall though, great build you've got there. Glad to see the Tempest is the base.

I know I posted pictures of mine recently already, but not a single person said anything as the post after mine was a guy talking negatively about the tempest which spawned an entirely different discussion.

I'm just glad I don't have to show you guys the front... My black DVD drive had gone bad and i had to replace it, the only one I had to replace it with was beige. So I have a beige DVD drive on a black inside and out case

I apologize that your pictures did not get some attention in the thread. I will be the first to admit that I have not put that high of a priority on this thread as of lately, but I am trying to change that. This case and it's owners deserve better from me.

Your system is on the right track, but it's not quite there yet.

Having IDE isn't as much of a cripple as people may think. In fact, when done properly, having some IDE cables in your system can look good. Back when I had IDE ODD's I managed to make the cable blend in with the system.

Before you jump to the conclusion that it's my rounded cable doing all of the work, you can still make a ribbon cable look neat and tidy. I would show you a picture of when I had a ribbon cable, but I am currently experiencing the death of an HDD, and that picture happens to be on it.

It's simple things that make can make a computer look exponentially better, though. I noticed that not many of your cables are making use of the holes in the motherboard tray. Perhaps if you attempted to more of your mass of cables behind the motherboard tray, it wouldn't look like there are as many as there are. I will agree with you, on the fact that, your PSU has a stupendous amount of cables.

It's not just your PSU cables that I would turn my attention to, though. I sense a lack of organization in your case. Not to say that it's a complete and utter mess, but I think that you need rebuild it with the intention of organization first and foremost in your mind. Also, the simple act of twisting fan cables will make them look much smaller. Your USB and front sound headers should also be routed under the motherboard tray, and exit from the top cable management hole, shared by your 24pin.

I would also move both HDD's to your bottom HDD cage, and move the ODD to the top most slot. While it may sound weird to not have everything next to each other, it would be more organized. Having the HDD's in the bottom next to each other would make "stacking" cables easier. With the ODD up to the top, it would look much neater to put the IDE cable through the bottom cable management hole, and then have it peek out with a power lead to go to the ODD.

Cable management is something that takes a great amount of time. Several sessions of re-wiring are needed to achieve "good" cable management. I find the more you re-wire your case, the more you think of new ways to route cables better. My cables haven't always been as neat as they are, and I am still far from completion.

Before the Tempest I had a Xion Solaris. It was getting too cramped.

First time using it (was not trying to manage, I was waiting for another package).

Then I got my package and tried.

It ran like that for about two months.

Then I got my new board, CPU, and RAM. I tried some new ideas.

Before installing the DFI board, I drilled a 1 1/4" hole in the top left of the mobo tray.

Then I got some green SATA cables from a DFI UT X38 off someone on OCN.
I felt obligated to rewire my entire case, so I did.

You'll notice in older pics, the two 140mm fan's wires would come to the same hole the 24 pin was going to. I thought it would look better if I wired them through the 8 pin hole.

Now I am here.

It's been a work in progress for about 7 months now, and I'm still not done.
Like I said, you're on the right track. It's just going to take more thought and effort on your part. Looking at myself, I plan on re-building my PC again today.

Also, sorry if it seems like I am trying to tell you what to do. I am just trying to be helpful and give some tips on how to manage cables better.

Keep at it man. That's all I can say.

Some good advice, thanks.

I know it could be better, I just lack the time and the level of attention to detail that you have. My case's window is pressed up against the edge of my desk to where I can hardly see inside, not to mention the window is tinted. This, along with the fact that I don't go to LAN parties or I don't show off my computer internals to everyone else keeps me from really spending the time to clean it up like I should.

I know that despite having a lot of PSU cables I should still manage to clean it up better. My biggest issue is how thick all my cables together are. The gap between the motherboard tray (even with the indent) is only so wide, and my 24-pin motherboard connector is pretty thick on it's own. That's why you get a nice ugly visual of my cables spreading off after that second ziptie.

One day, if/when I have the time to rewire it like you suggested, I think I might remove the rubber grommets in the cable management holes. I remember how much a pain they were to keep in place when routing a crapload of cables through them was, and I would probably have more cable position flexibility if I removed them.

In good time I will be able to work things out better. Functionality is number one to me at the moment, visuals come second. I think If i managed to do away with the IDE cable (I plan on buying a SATA DVD drive soon - like I mentioned above, my black DVD drive died and I currently have a beige one installed) and maybe bother getting another SATA drive instead of the IDE one, then top it off with a better, modular power supply, then my case with the proper attention could look up to caliber of yours and some of the others on here.

Thanks for the input and taking the time to share.

Hey whats up y'all

So finally after long debate, started building my first PC. And after looking through many sites I found this thread and pretty much sealed the deal on getting the Tempest EVO. Build is still in progress but check out the build thread when ever yall get a chance.

As for some pix:

Dont fret, the Red SATA cable isnt staying. Just mock up on cable lengths to see how going to run all the wires

So does that mean I'm added to the list?
