Cooler Master V10 Modding - Page 6

I really think the idea's a good one and's practical.

I really like what you're doing here! I noticed you're looking for a 40mm fan and remembered this: 40mmX40mmX28mm Fan with 24 CFM I ordered one myself a while back just to play around with it.

I really don't think that two will work well at all. Since even if it was possible it would require a great deal of prep work. As well as the fact that you will not be able to use some tiny CPU cooler to cool the TEC. They put out far too much heat for that.

This sounds like a great plan, the fan is the only issue. The assemply of the heatpipe frmo the NB is very close to the back of the TEC...

Heatsink/TEC

The Evercool 40MM i bought wont even fit between the two. I'll check out the 38MM fans though and low profile ones in general.
The only other option is to put a fan from the spot where the camera was in the photo. I had the Dynatron 40MM there before i took the photo, but removed it since it was not of any help on an open bench...

Currently, i may have to leave this project as-is (unfortunately)...
1. The TEC (24 volt 226[i'll buy this as soon as i do my project requiring one of your custom blocks]) will just not fit as is. All the 40x40 would still benefit from an additional fan, but...
2. Putting another fan on the back of the TEC is not possible at this time (considering either removing that portion of the heatpipe or a whole new setup...)
3. Having unrelated isues with my ULTRA's, so time has been going into getting those back up and running...

Thanks to all for your input. I have learned quite a bit from everyones comments... Hope to revive this sometime soon...

It would work as long as it's the power lines for the TEC, but it isn't going to make a huge difference.

Also, it was mentioned earlier in this thread that a benchmarking website did this already and burned out the TEC very quickly. the TEC in the V10 is not made to run off 12V. It only supplies 6V to the stock TEC while in use. I will most likely replace the TEC in mine eventually, but 1st, i may try to run the TEC at a slightly higher voltage just to see if it runs stable (though i know i will end up burning the stock one out in the process).

Hardware-Canucks:
"Luckily, we got our 15 minutes of full power before we got an ozone smell. Why is it only sucking 20watts now? We are not sure, but either this bad boy needs ultra smooth power and it got a small ripple which damaged it, or it needs less and we over feed it."

yeah i mean replace the tec with a better one, then get rid of the sensor, and it should be working permanently then?
