I need a couple things for a very cheap build

Thread Starter
I need cpu, case, ps, mobo and hard drive. I want this to be the cheapest dual core possible.

This is what I came up with... this computer is for my friends mom.

mobo/cpu - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.230452

case/ps - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.215742

hard drive - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136113

memory - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820134797

What ya think? Do I need a case/power supply of that quality or can I afford to go cheaper? I need this to be as cheap as possible.

thanks....

It's a little more expensive, but I think it's much more worth it.

This is for a old woman, as long as the PSU doesn't blow up I'm good, I'm helping her build a very cheap dual core with integrated graphics and she gave me 300 bucks, I told her I would try to build something within that range and told her I will try to save a little to keep for myself for my time to effort to put the pc together so if I can get 220 and lower I can make a little 80 bucks for myself which I think is fair for the time and effort to put a computer together.

If you think I'm selfish, please keep it to yaself... no disrespect but times are hard.

cpu/mobo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.230451 $7 Saved

psu/case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.215959 $16 saved

hard drive - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136195 $10 Saved

Memory - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220231 $3 Saved

This would save ya $36 from your original post. I wouldn't use that psu in any of my pcs (I stick with corsair, pc power and cooling, etc) but it may work ok for this, dunno.

Total comes to $216.94.

Slickdeals is your friend

I bought 6 GB of PNY ddr2 800 for 30 dollars not too long ago and already got my rebate.

Ideally I would budget my build like this:

<25 cpu - have seen many amd x2 selling around this price on ebay
<40 case/psu - saw a nice rosewill glossy case with 400 w psu sell ~37 ebay
<30 mobo - some really nice mobos refurbs on ebay for around this price.
<15 2GB RAM - can easily get this with rebates every couple weeks
<20 HDD - grab a cheap old hdd off ebay.

should = 130 if your patient

Definately doable < 150 if you take losses here and there
