lol.

I've always used AMD, Never had one fail on me, My previous rig of mine got struck by lightning(how stupid of me to leave it plugged in)which is an AMD and it's still running today, very reliable and well worth the value.

Really a big influence is salesmen and such on people.
"Why buy a great reliable AMD thats $70 when you can get this really over priced thats Intel for $120?"

Yeah my friend recently built his first gaming computer, after years of crappy Dell desktops and laptops. I tried and tried and tried, but he insisted on Intel/NVidia. And by all means they're NOT bad brands at all, but I found it funny when you ask them, "Why is Intel/NVidia better?" And he said, "I don't know they're just more...better...." Typical coming from someone who knows nothing about the industry. He had to get a Q8200 and a GTS 250. What could he have gotten from AMD? A Phenom II 920, and 4870 1GB.

After Googling "AMD Sucks" all I get is a bunch of flamed forum threads from 2002-2003. lol

I wonder if the fact that AMD are seen as a foreign company and Intel American has anything to do with it? I don't really know, just a thought.

Well I've had more Intel chips die than AMD chips and I'm in IT for a college of 20k+ students. Dead CPU's are so freaky rare that I couldn't really say which is worse quality than the other. Intel branded motherboards are junk but AMD doesn't have their own boards. Lately I've stuck to just ordering Asus boards for both the Intel and AMD rigs.

Yeah me and my cousin when to Microcenter a couple of days ago to get him a GTX 260 and I asked the guy what kind of ATI cards do you got? He was like "What are you doing with them gaming?" I said yes and he replies "Well go with nvidia they handle games much better.." I asked him why and he just walked off and helped someone else...

AMD is just as "foreign" as Intel

Both are based in the US and have some operations overseas
(Ex. AMD's fab in Germany, and Intel's in Israel)

Mostly because people are retarded and they will believe anything a salesperson says. I told my grandfather to get an LCD TV, and he got a more expensive plasma. Why? Because he was too dumb to realize that I'm not trying to sell him a more expensive piece of hardware.
