The only thing that I think is stupid is buying probes and especially fuel, fuel? I practically run out of gas going to one solar system and back.
Mmm Remind me of a really old game, Protostar (use to came on 3.5 floppy disk). I use to run out of fuel or money more often then I wanted.

Still it's good to know that I have to watch that.

No ship upgrade to increase the efficiency?

In the last one you could only fly in-system or using mass relays, I guess that sytem-to-system travel is different. Or at least, that'd be the excuse XD.

So i played a while now, not sure how far i progressed but every moment has been great.
I like the dialogs and the open conversations you sometimes hear by other people arround you. In most cases they are hilarious.

The only annoying thing is that your ship has 4 different decks, wich is irritating when you want to chat with your crew since it has to reload all the time.

Question for those who had an relationship with ashley in ME1 and already did the Horizon mission:

Since ive lost my savegame I pretty much just started mass effect 2 from scratch.
I my savegame I had a relation with ashley so i'm kind of curious what happend when you encountered her at Horizon.

With my current playthrough it probably didn't pic any previous character as a girlfriend.
When I ment ashley she simply shaked my hand and then she got pissed because I served with Cerberus. She didn't show any intrest and decided to leave. Also didn't get any email. I pretty much concluded ashley won't be in this game (I guess)

Just curious how she reacted when you encountered her

Alwinp, I agree that loading between the 4 decks can get a bit annoying after a while. At least it doesn't take ages to load.

Ashley reacted in the same way to me. My save was from ME1 where the love interest had been Liara.

The game runs fine, but the load times tend to be on the longer end on my rig.
Easely a minute+ of loading between each deck.

Also wished Aria from Omega station could be a crew member, I really like her character.

I don't get why you guys complain about having to buy fuel and probes. Personally I really enjoyed having to run from a system to another to refuel and buy probes. At least it's realistic. I'd love to drive a car that never ever needs fuel but hey, what's the chances of that to happen?

Only 2 downsides I've found to the game are minor really.
First is technical, the fps cap, and I got rid of that easily but I wish there'd be a V-Sync option so you wouldn't have to toy directly in the ini files.
Second is how easy the game gets on "Insanity" with the DLCs and an infiltrator Shepard, just get party-wide cryo ammo asap, and then just hammer away, as long as you don't face more than 5 enemies at once you can keep em frozen 80% of the time by switching targets instead of picking them off one by one. I mean come on, even when the guy is 500m away if you put one round of the pistol anywhere near his head the guy ends up frozen. And if they've got kinetic barriers, just oneshot them with ur sniper rifle, it's not like you're gonna run out of ammo anyway.

Hell yeah it would be cool to have Aria as a crew member. As for the load times its not nearly as bad as the elevator rides in the ME1 on the Citidel....

Really, it takes over a minute to load between the decks for you? It honestly takes me 3 seconds at most to load between decks. In fact, I've yet to encounter any load in the game that took longer then 30 seconds tops. It's really weird how different PC's load things at such different speeds like that.

With all that said I have a few thoughts on the game. To start with I'm absolutely loving it. At first I like many others did not like the so called "dumbing" down of some features. I could not stand not having an inventory screen. To me it felt like it took away some of the RPG aspect of the game.

After a few hours into it though I realised it simply did not matter. I love me some RPG's but Mass Effect, to put it simply is in a class 100% all by itself. It does not need to have an inventory screen.

In all honestly I think it adds some realism to the game. If you think about agents in real life or in other video games for that matter, they go into a mission with the majority of the gear in hand already. It's rare you'd see them run into a mission, kill a bunch of people but take time between each and every one of them to sort through hundreds of different weapons, armors and upgrades.

In fact I always thought one of the only knocks on the original Mass Effect was that Shepard was a bad ass spectre, the galaxies top Agent, yet he never went into battle with the best of the best. He always found better stuff. I know that's what RPG's are all about, but as I said, Mass Effect is more then that.

I kind of like how now in ME2 you have your own little armory and you chose ahead of time what you are going to take into battle. I also like the new research system. To a point anyway. I can't say I enjoy having to scan planets all the time, it can get pretty boring.

With that said though, I prefer the new way as opposed to the old way. Who really wants to sit in an inventory screen for 30 minutes just to find one single upgrade that's going to increase the effectiveness of something by 2% lol. How anal can we be? Pretty anal when it comes to inventory management

I will say I do not like the new hacking system. It's really a pain, and while still pretty easy it always brings a *sigh to me whenever I see something that needs hacked.

I also do not like the new way of travling through space. I prefered the simpler way it was done in Mass Effect 1.

I'm torn as to whether or not I like the new ammo system. On one hand it's incredibly annoying to keep track of. On the other hand though it really does make the battles more fun. I like being in a firefight and realising "oh **** I'm about to run outta assault rifle ammo". It can suck, but it's an added deminsion to the fighting.

What else, what else...

Let's sum it up.
+ To the new way weapons and inventory is handled (or lack there of)
+ To the new upgrade system
+ To the new Bypass system
- To the new hacking system
- To not being able to use the mako at all
- To the new space travel (fuel? really? I have to worry about that now?)
= To the new ammo thing. Could care less either way. Both have their positives and negatives.

All in all I LOVE this game. Thrown together with the original Mass Effect I do believe I'm almost willing to say they are the two best games ever made. Period. I really do think that. This is comming from a HUGE Blizzard (Diablo and Warcraft) and Quake II fanboy!

Why did I write all of this? I dunno. Sorry guys lol.
