Hi, I am still wondering whether I need a Rampage II Extreme. The open box I was looking at has been out of stock, but I'm fine waiting however long it takes to get one in stock if it is worth it. But as a novice oc'er should I just get an Asus P6T Deluxe or P6T6? I know some of you have suggested getting a Blood Rage, but I have to rule that one out.

Thanks again for the help!

The mobo is something I just don't compromise on. I had an old XFX 680i SLI LT and had problem after problem with it, because it was just a bad board. When I moved to my very nice (and slightly more expensive) EVGa 790i FTW, it was such a nice board and had none of the problems that I swore off buying XFX or inferior boards forever.

The Asus P6T6 and the Asus Deluxe are both very good boards and neither are "inferior;" they just aren't the best. With the allure of the open box Rampage II Extreme at that cheap price gone, they would both be good replacements.

K, the only reason I asked that is because I had been reading around, and some people have been saying with the Rampage II you are only paying for looks and a couple "gimmicky" features. I know its a steal but the P6T Deluxe is 50 dollars cheaper, and if I don't need those features I might as well save 50 bucks and get a better hard drive or something.

The difference will mainly come when you go to overclock it. The rampage II extreme will just never flinch as you increase the speed whereas around 210base clock the other asus boards start to peak.

The other board like the P6T Deluxe will work fine and if that's where your priorities lay, then great you still get a good board and have extra money for performance in the HDDs.

To Decimate, I have just heard people saying that they have had trouble with their boards/customer service. But then again I ChickenInferno told me to take Newegg reviews with a grain of salt. I know around here that board is worshiped.

But anyways I finally placed that order. I decided to go with the Rampage II Extreme. Has anyone who lives in the New England area ordered from Newegg before? Call me impatient, but I was just wondering how long it might take to get here.

Thanks again! You guys truly helped me so much!

I'm in ohio and get it from their NJ facility. Ussually, if I order on Monday night it proccesses through on Tuesday and I get it Friday. Since you're closer, it might be earlier than that.

BTW, I picked up a rampage for myself yesterday Hope you get as lucky with the CPU as I did.

Alright thanks. Everything except the Rampage is coming from NJ. The Rampage II Extreme is shipping from California. I just noticed that I had a free Newegg gift, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835185039. I don't really know how I would install it, or even if its compatible let alone worth installing. I can't find reviews of it other than Newegg ones. Do you guys know anything about it?

Also I just watched these videos, both using the Rampage II Extreme. Can I just do what these two videos show to do?

In this one he says around 1:35 what he does to OC his cpu, but he doesn't have a 920.

As well as this one:

Thanks again!

That fan is just a random fan they've thrown in. I don't even know what I'd do with it.

By the way, what he says around 1:35 about just setting it to 4.0ghz is probablly the stupidest method of overclocking you can do. He only stress tested by encoding, but what he didn't notice is that more than likely he had alot of errors in that encoding. You absolutely must stress test to prove stability of an overclock or you risk damaging your brand new CPU.

The second video is alot better, but I honestly reccomend reading This It's definitly worth the time to get to know it and understand it.

The basic principal to overclocking is always increase speed, stability test; If pass then increase speed again, if fail adjust voltages - ussually vcore.
