Air Cooling Fan Question

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

Just a question. If I were to purchase a CPU Fan / Heatsink. For the price of $30 - $80 , what would you guys suggest?

I was thinking about the Cooler Master V8. But from what I am reading, the performance on the V8 is not that great compared to some other Fans. I personally would prefer the V8 because of its looks but if its that big of a gap difference in preformance. Which fan would you guys really suggest? Noise doesn't matter, just performance and look.

Thanks!

Scythe Mugen 2 if you want something for $35ish
If you want to go all out, get a Megahalem for $60ish (though you'll also need a fan as it doesn't come with one - I recommend a 120x38)

Prolimatech Megahelms, 38mm clips, 38mm Panaflo or Delta, and a fan controller, this is the best of the best right now, if you exclude the IFX-14 but thats a little more costly.

Ultimate performance for a price = Scythe Mugen 2 or TRUE or Megahelms.

Killer looks with real good performance = Xiggy Dark Knight

Noob question here

What exactly is a Megahelm. I searched around, it gave me a bunch of fan options such as.

Thermaltake A2018 120mm Blue LED - 3 Function fan operates at full speed, thermally controlled or manually adjustable. Comes with PCI slot control to adjust the fans speed. 120x25mm, 3pin, 12V DC, 38.6-93.7CFM, 17-46.5dBA.
Thermalright TR-FDB-12-2000 - 120x25mm, 3pin, 80.5cfm, 38dBA Fan
Scythe S-Flex SFF21D - 120x25mm, 3pin, 33cfm, 9dBA Fan
Scythe S-Flex SFF21F - 120x25mm, 3pin, 64cfm, 28dBA Fan
Kaze Jyuni SY1225SL12SH - 120x25mm, 3pin, 12V DC, 1900rpm, 110cfm, 37dBA
Panaflo FBA12G12U - 12V DC, 120x38mm, 3pin, 6.12watts, 2750rpm, 114cfm, 46dBA
Sunon KD1212PMB3 - 3pin, 12v DC, ball bearing, 120x38mm, 3.2watts, 2400rpm, 84cfm, 35dBA
Scythe Kama Flex SA1225FDBL12L- 120x25mm, 3pin, 12V DC, 1,000rpm, 38.9cfm, 15.8dBA
Scythe Kama Flex SA1225FDB12H - 120x25mm, 3pin, 12V DC, 1900rpm, 75cfm, 34.8dBA

So is megahalem a CPU COOLER itself? similar to the CoolerMaster V8 but with fancy options ( different fans to choose from )

Or what ..

and would these be purchasable on sites such as newegg / tigerdirect

Megahalems is currently the best CPU heatsink.

You can put any 120mm fan on it.

I'd recommend it for your Q9550. Mine was getting into the 70's after overclocking on a TRUE.

Another stupid question here Sorry.

So what would be a few examples of a Megahalem? or is a Megahalem the actual name of the CPU COOLER itself? Or is it just a "name" for certain types of cpu coolers.
