You yet again amaze me with your work. Can't wait to see how this project all comes together.
Danke, Liquid.

I am also brimming with anticipation.

Ah, thought so. Great job! I wish I knew where to get acrylic here but I wouldn't know where to start.

Amazing work as usual Syr. Do i spy scarab feet on the left in one of those pics?

How strong is it? If you dropped it from say, 50cm off the floor onto wood floring, would the bonds break?

Thank you, Oliver.

Yar! ...those are Scarab feet awaiting their demise.

I would wager that the bonds would hold if impacted against a wood floor but I lack the nads to put my claim to the test.

*whew!*

I will say that I have made bonds with the same gauged material and then attempted to snap the bond while gripping the pieces at the furthest point from the vertice. Most of the time one of the panels will snap before the bond does... most of the time.

The bonds on this shell are pretty good. sometimes the joining panels surfaces are too flush so the capillary action is halted midway through. This only happened a little on this project.

A way to get around this is to have the one of the panels be offset from the edge by 1/16"; this allows bonding from both sides.

If you offset it, do you then slide it back flush after applying the liquid cement?

I leave it as it is. Sliding will leave a small blemish on the inside, and the chance of (me) fudging the alignment is too great. Also, once the Weld-On is applied the weld starts to form almost immediately, moving the piece about may weaken the weld. I try to incorporate the offset into the case design when I feel that I need to do so.
