Yeah, it just doesn't feel right to have the top fans flipped around but it's all I could think of before. I think adding a fan(s) at the 5.25" bay will make a huge difference. I'll give that a try... I've been looking for ways to mount something up there, I'll just give it a go with some zip-ties for now.

I've read through literally every page of this thread and the general consensus I noticed is adding another intake in the 5.25" bay. This is what I plan on doing. I recommend going through this thread if you haven't already. There are several really good solutions posted with pictures!

Zip ties are your friend, you don't need to fork out extra cash for a drive bay converter.

On a side note, I'd like to see this case wrapped in Carbon Fiber vinyl... (white perhaps).

Mine arrived yesterday with all of the retention pins for the case front snapped. RMA'd.

Suck.

Think back to grade school science... Heat does what? Sinks? NO! Heat rises! What you did was turn your perfectly functional exhaust fans (venting hot air from the top of your case) into poorly performing intake fans. These were sucking in cool air from above the case, as you'd expect, but half of that was being vented through the rear exhaust (as you noticed with the lower CPU temps), but the rest was just pottering around the centre of the case with nowhere to go. Hence, your GPU was sat in stale, partially warmed air, slowly warming it up.

Your case is in its optimum setup with a low front intake and high rear exhaust. Cool air is introduced through the front and taken up by the GPU cooler, and also brought up past the CPU and RAM by the negative pressure caused by your exhaust fans sucking warm air out. It doesn't get more efficient.

If you're having trouble with airflow because of the top grill, why not mod it out? I'm sure you can cut through it with a dremel or hand saw if need be, and file it down smooth. Your only issue then would be dust settling while the PC is turned off.

How did you find the Spotcool performed? I'm swapping the stock Intel HSF on my CPU for a Corsair H70. The NB HS was too-hot-to-touch with what little airflow that provided, so I think I'll need another solution. I looked at active cooling HSF replacements for the NB HS, but it's a good quality 100% copper unit, and as you say the fans can scream!

can someone please advise how you managed to route the 8 pin power cable behind the m/b tray. I bought an 8 pin extension but for the life of me i cannot get it through the cutout. I was thinking about removing the m/b and running if behind the cpu cutout. Any help / how to would be great guys.

Thanks in advance.
