Use 2 PC's (DVI) with 1 monitor

Thread Starter
Is there anything out there that will let me use 2 PC's with only 1 monitor in which both PC's are feeding signals through DVI?

I'm thinking that there must be a DVI input splitter out there, but I can't find one.

UPDATE: Can anyone recommend a good DVI switch with USB?

That splits one DVI signal into two for two devices. The opposite of what he wants.

I don't want to use KVM -- I already have one, and for my purpose, it doesn't make sense to change to a DVI one.

Currently I have 2 monitors and 2 computers. 1 computer feeds entirely DVI for dual monitors. The other computer feeds VGA. I want to sell both monitors and just get a 24" Samsung but would like both PC's to have digital signal.
get a dell monitor like 2408wfp, and call it a day.

hook up hdmi + 2 dvi + vga + component

my suggestion

That splits one DVI signal into two for two devices. The opposite of what he wants.
Something less complicated -- like a wire that connects to the monitor DVI and then you can plug 2 separate DVI cables into from each PC.

I was looking at the P2370L Samsung. The Dell Ultra Sharp are awesome build quality but I used one for 3 months in a GIS project and couldn't tell much difference from some other budget monitors. Maybe they've gotten better? This was last year.

Try one of these. Only a single DVI but you can use HDMI with your 4870.

What you're looking for is a KVM, or at least the V part. Most monitors with multiple inputs support this. I have my computer hooked up to the DVI input and my 360 hooked up to the VGA on my monitor and all I have to do is press the source button on my computer to switch between them. Infinitely more convenient and cheaper than anything you are going to find.

If only BestBuy had the P2370HD
I'd rather stay away from ordering displays online. I've had problems with dead pixels, backlights, and power supplies. It's much easier and less hassle to deal with a local retailer. The best monitor in stores around me are the P2370, which isn't even that great. They also have the LG light-up red model -- but I've heard LG isn't that great.

Anyone know how the Dell 24" LED monitor is? The one that goes for around $200-250? Is that any good? I've read some pretty poor reviews on it, but CNET and PCWorld are giving it a lot of hype.

I can't believe they don't make a DVI cable that has two import connections and 1 output connection.

And how would you switch between the two signals? .....hence, the need for a switch.

They don't because it would be stupid. It would be like making an adapter that allowed you to plug two CPUs into one socket. What would that do?
