HELP! x700 and only 60 fps in ati tool?

As the topic says im having some serious problems. just bought this video card expecting it to be pretty good. in dod source i average 20-50 fps no matter what settings i change and in ati tool average 60. i have a

asus p4p800
p4 2.8
gig of ram

is this normal??
any ideas???

Run 3Dmark 05 trial. If you don't get at least 3000 then something is up.

Is this a x700 or a x700 Pro version? also I'd check for AA & AF settings.. I remember that I'd used to get really low scores because of that.

Ok, well the lower score might be cause that it's a plain x700, but you can still oc the card with ATITool.
AA & AF are Antialiasing & Anisotropic Filtering, these boost image quality, but lower performance, fps. here's a faq:

To change these values, right click the AtiTool icon and you should see them there. Lower them to get better fps, higher for better image quality.

*Edit: also, what drivers are you using? Maybe you should update them to the latest, either www.ati.com for official drivers or www.omegadrivers.net for modded ones. I'd recommend the Omegas, but the Ati Catalyst may work better.

they where already off, everything down as low as possible. newest drivers.

clocked it to these settings with little to no improvement

Damn.. I'm not that sure what it could be, maybe temps? could you see if you can activate temp monitoring in AtiTool under settings? Also how about Ocing your cpu?

when i installed my new video card i didn't unistall the other drivers first. could this be a problem? any way i can delete the old drivers?
