Whoa, firstly: The BIOS are not in the HDD, otherwise, how would base models function? The HDD's will have a particular serial number that the Mobo will look for when attached.

Microsoft has numerously made claims of extra "never before seen" security precautions. So if it was just as easy as loading a boot disk that enables you to FTP the serial number of the HDD to another, there are still going to be other obstacles.

I'm not saying it's impossible, rather it will take time to get past the new security. But, you simply cannot switch HDD without locking/unlocking, and so on...
