Thread Starter
I am new to this overclocking, I have a AMD Athalon 64 3200+ Socket 754, and i want to overclock it to 2.2Ghz, now i went into the setup bios thing, and it says CPU Clock Frequency and it is at 200Mhz, now how many Mhz do i have to set it to to get the 2.2Ghz? Can someone please help me? Thanks.

the multiplier should be in the same place in the bios, or you can use CPU-Z i believe, and that will tell you other stuff as well. to get your clock speed, you take your FSB and multiply that times your mulitplier. right now you should be at 200fsb * 10 multiplier = 2000mhz. so you would need 220fsb to get 2.2ghz.

oh ok, that makes sense, yes its at 200, so i just set it to 220 to get it to 2.2ghz, thanks a lot.

So how do you overclock the Ram speed anyways?

not a problem man, and welcome to the forum, and happy OCing

when you OC your cpu, that speeds up everthing else, because it all operates based on that clock speed, and more specifically the FSB. so when you OC your cpu the ram gets it as well. this is good if your ram can handle the speed, but bad if not, this is where ram deviders come in. they esentially make the ram run at some % of the cpu speed. so when you get to 2.2ghz, your FSB will be at 220 right, this means that your ram will then be running at 440mhz if the ram devider is kept at 1-1. this making sense?

yea, i downloaded the cpu-z and it says my ram is running at single channel instead of dual, i have a single patriot 512 in there, and dual 512 as well, making it 1536. What i dont understand is why is it running at single channel instead of dual?

ohh thats an interesting question. the ram itself is DDR right? try taking out the non matching ram, sometimes that messes stuff up when there are two different brands, and check in the BIOS for for something about ram, i think there might be something about that in there.
