Powercolour X850XT PE Temps

Thread Starter
Hey all, I know this threads probly been started several times (but i couldnt find any). So I was wondering what are safe temps for the aforementioned graphics card. And what kind of an impact should i see on the temps if i replace the normal thermal interface with as5?? Cheers.

dont know temps, nvidia usuallu should stay below maybe 80 or so but arent supposed to be in trouble until the 100's, ati is likely similar but do wait to find out for sure. as5 should drop temps by 2-8 or so degrees if applied properly.

hmm, strange how GPUs can take so much more heat than CPUs..

Yes, they are just designe that way, pandapimp's nVidia software says his 7800GTX doesn't even BEGIN to thermal throttle until 130c!! lol!, anyways my X800XL can take 90c safely according to ATITool so that should give you an idea, then again my CPU is supposed to stay below 67.7 but I let it run to 73c yesterday encoding 5 videos with a (basically) passive heatsink so you should be good up to 100c. BUT remember, lower is ALWAYS better until you get under ambient which you can't with air cooling. Adding AS5 to my heatsink (AC Silencer 5 rev. 2) made my temps (overclocked to 425/1000) about 38c idle and 57c load but I never ran this card without AS5 or with the stock heatsink since I swapped sinks and added the AS5 right when I bought it so I don't know how much it helped, sorry.

I dont let my card go over 60c but im sure it can take alot of more on the core. But once the memory gets warmer and warmer it begins to be unstable.
