mod bios for more ram dividing options?

Thread Starter
currently have a msi pt880-neo lsr (ms-7008) with latest bios update from MSI

i was wondering if there are anyways to mod the bios to be able to change the options for my fsb:dram divider ratios. the only option i have, fsb:dram, are 4:5 , 2:3, and 1:1.

i want a divider of 5:4 or even 3:2 but theres no option for it. i want this because im not able to run my ram past its rated speed but i want to achieve a higher overclock on my cpu.

i tried increasing vdimm and loosening tmings but still cant overclock the dram very well with my current 1:1 ratio... so i was wondering if modding the bios for more divider options is possible?

thanks.

edit: tried older vers of my mobo's bios but the dividers are the same

There are ways to modify a BIOS into having more options than it was originally designed to have, however it is only for the most skilled and often ends in major problems.
I would recommend against it, you could attempt to mod it yourself or download a custom BIOS but it could cause the dividers to be set incorrectly thus increasing or decreasing the memory clock speeds much more than what you had expected and thus causing major problems. Many other problems could also be caused by getting a custom BIOS.

As for where to get one or how to make one I am actually clueless having never actually attempted to do so myself

I am sure you can make do with your divider options for the time being. What I suppose you could do is write to MSI and ask them to add new divider options in the next BIOS update for your board. They may not listen but its worth a try

If you wish to try a different BIOS then go ahead, still I recommend against it.
