I just bought this month's MaximumPC mag. It has an "Everything BIOS guide." So hopefully this will be of some help too.

....Just checked Newegg. My order finally shipped! Hopefully I'll have everything by Monday.

Now I'm wanting to get a digital camera to take some pics!
You need fan on the dark night, stock i7 920 with ht on will rape that cpu heat-sink. Order 2 of those fan

After your first POST (and subsequently starting to fart around with the computer) there are a few downloads that you should really think about getting. CPU-Z (cpuid), GPU-Z, and some sort of temp program (I'm a fan of Everest Ultimate) are just a few.

With those big HDDs of yours I'd say setting yourself up some partitions is a good idea.

And since you've built a powerful system, grab yourself some benchmarks and see what your investment has earned you!

Oh, and play some games, have fun with your new toy.

And then hide your wallet from yourself. Once you build a system, wallets have a tendency to bleed funds. Rapidly.

[QUOTE=Trace;7057513]Thanks I'm guessing this will all be in the BIOS right?

Yup, usually under "PC HEALTH STATUS" or some similar tab, usually the last tab in the bios, that's where you will find temp & voltages. Memory settings are going to probably be in a different tab though, read the manual you'll find it OK.

Have fun with your build, I am surrounded by new builds almost constantly, I recently did a new budget HTPC to replace my existing one, & just did an engineering PC for my Solidworks work at home, built that one form OCN used parts.

Let the addiction begin.

Nice. I've heard of those. These are the things I need to learn a lot about. I think I've got the hardware stuff down for the most part. But when it comes to software, I'm clueless

He means that with so much hard drive space you're going to want to partition the drives (basically cut the whole pie of hard drives into different slices for different things) so you can have your operating system and games running on the faster loading hard drives, and your regular media/data/music/etc.. running on the slower 1TB drive.

I'd suggest a RAID0 on the x2 VR's, and maybe split your 1TB into 2 500gb slices in case you ever want to install Linux Ubuntu or dual/triple/quadruple boot Vista/XP/Win7/Ubuntu

Upon posting, press DEL. Go into the RAM section and set everything to it's rated specs.
make sure the temps are with in reason (no higher than 50C I assume, I'm not familiar with i7).
You'll want to Format the main drive when you put in the windows dvd. Drive options>format (the velociraptor). Then go ahead and install.

Things to download:
LAN Drivers
Chipset Drivers
Audio Drivers

VGA drivers
CPU-Z
HWmonitor
GPU-z
Prime95
LinX

You'll want to install the top stuff first.

Only one VR and two Caviar Blacks

But I was thinking about how to set up the HDs. I'm kinda nervous about RAID0. Don't like the idea of a HD crashing and me loosing everything that is on both drives. So then I started thinking about RAID1 but that seems like a lot of space I'd be waisting just to back up every single file that I put on one of those drives. Then I thought about skipping RAID anything all together and backing up only the files I want on one of the Caviar Blacks.

And then I have the VR by itself. Should I invest in another one of these for RAID0 and then back up what I want on one of the Caviars?

So many decisions I think I'll start a thread in the HD section for this.

So I finally finished putting everything together after a few days of building, plugged in the monitor, ect., hit the power button and nothing comes up on the screen. MB, fans, Gpu all running. Turns out the middle DIMM slot on the MB is not working. So I have it running 2x2 on the first and second slot for now. Kinda crappy I'm probably going to have to send the MB back for a new one.

Oh well. At least I was able to find out what it was.
