Please don't tell me that you leave your RAM settings to Auto when you're overclocking!

yes, if you leave it to auto it will default to whatever the spd (or whatever it is) the RAM tells it to run at. For examply my Corsair RAM automatically ran at 3-3-3-8 2T, however it was specified to run at 2-2-2-6 1T. I had to change it automatically.

if you are keeping your RAM setting to auto it sure will make your oc difficult. Always, always manually set your RAM timings. set them loose and overclock. tighten them up after you have recieved a stable overclock. Use a dividor yourself... that way you know exactly what the RAM timings and dividor will be before you boot the system. Leaving it alone is just plain dangerous.

i got a venice 3000+ @ 2.52ghz with a fsb of 315 running rock stable, unfortunatly i only got a single stick of 256mb corsair xms pc3500. my mobo ( asus a8n -e dont have enough juice to send to my cpu to get my x9 multi @ this fsb speed.

There could be a number of things but prob. the two that a key is CPU Cooling and the Max Vcore.

You are at the max 1.55 - CPUz reporting 1.6v this and removing the heat will stop you moving ahead.....

To check this place the mem on a divider - use MaxMem and then try going up.... I have a 3000+ in this MB which will only do around 2.6 due to the Vcore limitation as it will do 2.7 on Air and 3 under PC on a DFI because there are more available voltage options.

Work through the A8N FAQ - see my sig for the Link to help you out.

I'm at 288x9 on my Venice 3k+ (1.55v)... currently have 2.5, 4, 4, 9 on my Wintec 2x512 @ 216Mhz with 2.8v on it... its probably not the best but it's nice and stable... I can't seem to push my fsb past 295 without upping the cpuv up to 1.65! AHHH! And I always seem to have problems once I up it too (like weird smells etc.) My board only shows settings for 1.55volts, then goes to 1.65 which sucks cause a nice 1.6v would prob work perfectly
