best heat sink? - Page 3

If you're getting a Big Typhoon, go here, it's cheaper.

I'm getting a SI-120 myself, but I'm gonna put something a little less noisy (42 dBA). Also, I think after a certain point, getting a higher CFM fan isn't going to cool any better after that point, which I believe is around 110 CFM. There's also the fact that the XP-/SI-120 weigh a lot less than the Big Typhoon: 370/400 grams to 800 grams, respectively.

And on a personal note, I don't like the fact that the top part is held up only by the heatpipes. I know it works just fine seeing as how I've never heard of the pipes breaking off or anything like that but that's just me.

ok but the bigtyphhon looks all small. how could it cool as good as the xp-120?
Have you looked up pictures of it? It's not small.

One other note about the Typhoon (not a fanboy here, I'm running the Tower112) it has more heatpipes...well, only one more, but it is still more than the XP-120. Since they both sport 120's the overall footprint as well as peripheral cooling should be the same.

Just wondering, do any Zalman heatsinks compete in the race here?

Zalman's entry but you are locked to the fan as it is integrated. It still works well, but not as good as the XP's and the Typhoon...by how much I could not tell you. Anyone have stats??

How does the XP-90 do compared to the 120? And is the copper version better?

Although reviews differ slightly. Under different variables. Just somthing to look at.

Zalman vs. XP90c and some others http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=get...67&articID=365

Big Typhoon vs. Zalman CNPS9500http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coo...l-comp_14.html

Big Typhoon vx. xp90http://www.3dxtreme.net/index.php?id=ttbigtyphoon4

XP120 vs. XP90 vs. XP90c http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid...e=expert&pid=5

Looks like its Big Typhoon ftw

I think thats what I'm gonna get now, if my wife dosen't get me a watercooling kit from DD for x-mas.

***Edit
One more that I've seen mentioned around here before would be the Scythe Ninja Vs. Typhoon vs. Zalmanhttp://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coo...5-cool_24.html

Just got to weigh in sound, vs. performance vs. Cost, and Good Luck
