Yet another Opty Build

It looks like I am putting together a new work rig. It will never be overclocked so it just needs to be quick at stock speeds. I will probably be ordering this afternoon, so any quick responses will be appreciated.

Opteron 150
2x1GB G.Skill Extreme (2-3-2-5)
MSI Neo4 Plat
XFX 6800 256MB
OCZ 520W PSU

I seriously doubt the rest will be important. For the money it should be a fast little machine. I sure I could make a cheaper one go faster, but overclocking a company machine just isn't wise.

Are you going to be using the Raptor that I see in your sig? If so, don't bother with the Platinum, save a few bucks and get the Neo4-F. If you're planning on Sata2 though, then stay with the platinum.

Since it's not going to be overclocked, you should trade that Opty for my Winchester (219 bug...) and some cash. We'd both be good. I'd get rid of my Winchester for a new CPU and you'd get a "cheaper" alternative with decent performance and get a little cash back.

THe Chaintech VNF4 Ultra supports SATA2 and 1 PCIe x16 which you seek and is $65

I read your not OCing but FYI several members have OCed it very well, just a teatament to it's ability.
With the money you save you might squeeze a 7800GT in that budget.

The 6800 is probably more than I really need. I am using a 5200 in this machine now and the one I am building is a replacement for it. I previously had a 6800GT and I honestly don't see a huge difference between that and the 5200. I figured the 6800 vanilla would be good enough. The last thing I need at work is a machine capable of running all sorts of nice distractions. Thanks for the advice though, about 45 minutes earlier and I may have taken it, but everything is ordered now.

lol. I just dropped 220 on an opty that probably should have stayed in the bank. I should get my ISP to block newegg.
