Help Choosing Memory

Thread Starter
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what memory would be best for my mainboard as its not on the automatic config tool. Its an ASRock 939NF4G-SATA2 but im looking to run it with an overclocked opteron 165 so need the best memory I can get for the overclock.

I was looking at ocz but cant work out which module would be best as my board isnt listed on the configurator.

Also, the board is rated for DDR400 but the bios lets me go upto around 300 HTT so is there any advantage in using DDR500 which would hit the higher levels more easily?

Do you have any old RAM sitting around? If you do, put it in, update BIOS, and tell us the max amount of voltage you can pump into the vdimm. If your mobo can do 3.2+, get RAM with either BH or UTT chips. If it can't go that high, go with RAM that has TCCD chips.

if you like ocz then go with some ocz platinum rev. 2. it uses TCCD chips

Hmm, my motherboard doesnt actually give you the info of the voltage. It just has settings for low, med, high and ultra high. Is there anyway I can tell what voltage is actually going to the modules?

They utilize a verbal vdimm setting!!!
Auto, Ultra High, High, Normal or Low.
So with out a volt meter to test what they are, it's not possible to say what you are working with in voltages
It should like some Geil One since it's not to voltage hungry.
