GeForce 4 MX440 8X 64MB DDR TV-Out - Page 5

[Edit2]: Well one of my friend decided to give me an ATI Radeon 9600XT 128MB or the Radeon 9550 256MB which one should I get?

[Edit]: Well it wasn't Corsair but was Crucial and I have found out which ram I need to buy. However the problem is that they sell 512 sticks and 256 sticks. I currently have 256 as you can see, does it HAVE to be another 256? Or could I just buy 512 mb stick? Does it have to be the same or no? Thanks in advance.

OK I KNOW WITH THE 1GIG/2GIG >_>. No need to shove it down my throat . I know I have a crappy system but before this I had a Compaq Presario the really old one, Pentium 1, 5GB, I forgot the Mhz but I used that computer till like 4 years ago. I know how it feels to have an outdated system =/.

So I decided to purchase a corsair memory stick. I was able to find the one that I need to buy through their site. Hopefully this'll work! Wish me luck guys and thanks for the awesome replies, though some were off topic :cough:.

Ok, so you CAN get a 512MB stick and add it to your 256MB, no problem. It is not AS good but when you are on a tight budget, what can you do. The other posters are correct in saying that to play any game smoothly 1GB is a must and 2GB is reccomended, however 768MB and even 512MB is a nice boost from your current 256MB! Remember, more RAM is ALWAYS the best upgrade as far as price/performance ratio is concerned, You may also consider buying faster RAM, what is the speed of the RAM you have now?

Jjangthekid, if you do not know about your memory, google CPUZ and download the program, there is no installation, just run it and take a screen shot/tell me everything under the MEMORY and SPD tabs, please this will help me find you some nice RAM that is compatible with your system.

EDIT/// Oh yeah, about the video card, I think the 9600XT 128MB would be better, but if your friend will let you, take both and test them and keep whichever you like best

This is some very nice RAM, Corsair ValueSelect DDR400 512MB stick. I would reccomend ditching the 256MB you have now and getting anywhere from 1 to 4 of these sticks (except 3, I would stay away from odd numbers of RAM sticks unless it's just 1 lol) to get 512MB, 1GB or 2GB depending on how much money you have to spend. This is the same RAM I use in the computer in my signature except mine is DDR2 533 since my mobo supports DDR2....I wouldn't reccomend it to you unless I had used it for 2 years and loved it, which I have

Thanks so much Remonster and yes I had CPU-Z from before. I'll provide a pic soon but my motherboard is compatible with PC133 which is not compatible with the link that you gave me.

I think the problem lies within the motherboard, but as of now I can't upgrade the motherboard yet..

I would have to say that a 9600xt would be better because It has higher clocks, even though it has lower amount of memory, but A=I am not COMPLETLY SURE ABOUT THIS. There is a chart that shows alot of nvida and ati cards on newegg, but I can't rember where on newegg it is.

Alright guys, well I decided to get this card:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130220

eVGA GeForce 6600GT 128 4x/8x. One question though, what does the GGR stand for? How can you differentiate between MAC video cards and Window video cards? Would this video card be ok?

I am also going to upgrade my memory to around 1GB.
