x700 is not > 6600GT but the x700 is definetly cheaper! Although for $40 more you can save yourself the grief of having to spend another $150 when the x700 becomes outdated. I'd go with the 6600GT. ATI isn't the best on budget cards, I don't know why.

Edit: The x700 also has slower GDDR2 ram, while the 6600GT has zippy fast GDDR3.

Ok thanks. Thanks for all the help guys!. So I decided to get,

6600GT
2 sticks of 512 MB SDRAM. =]

But wait doesn't the 6600GT require a power connection? If so I don't think my computer has it, how should I go about this problem?
a 6600GT in your case would surely bottle neck and you won't get all the perforamnce out of it, better of buying a 9600XT or something equivalent, or else buy the 6600GT and keep it for future upgrade.

I'm sure the ATI series starting after the 9550 series requires a power connection right? If so, how would I go about in doing so?

In other words, all my cables are in use right now, so how would I be able to get a power line to my video card?
I had a 9600 pro before this card and no it does not require a power connector, card such as 6600GT and higher require a connector. i'm not sure about a 9600xt dough, ask someone who has or else check the images on sites.

About the drivers, use 6x.xx Drivers for your card, you should be able to play call of duty maybe choppy but you shouldn't be freezing. I played call of duty on a Pentium 3 system @ 800MHz and w/ the AGP 4x version of your card.

What I want to know is what settings are you running on?

Are you saying that you're using a Riva TNT2/Pro? Or the GeForce 4 MX440? Because I figured that it must be my ram that's causing the game to freeze and unfreeze. The same thing happened with WC3 as well.
I had both cards, but I was talking about the GF4, I had the 4x version and ran the same games ur talking about w/ slight choppyness (call of duty) and warcraft 3 smoothly. I also ran Counter-Strike source with my GeForce4 and had no problems, so you shouldn't either. However, it depends on the speed of your ram, and what speed is ur processor?

If you read the thread I said it was 256 =]. I am going to get 2 sticks of 512 ram and that should do it for now. What do you think?

And unless I can find a cheap 9600XT I think I will just stick with the Radeon 9550 until I upgrade later.

And could anybody help me check if the Radeon 9600XT requires a power source or not?

So I'm thinking of getting this card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814103159

I don't think it requires a power source..
