How to force connection of DHCP server?

Thread Starter
One of the computers in my house (connected to a wireless network with DHCP server) cannot detect/connect to the server. I have attempted to renew the IP address in order to force the computer to contact the DHCP server but it cannot.

The IP address is 169.smth.smth.smth. It may be the APIPA (Auto Private IP Adressing) from Windows....how can i see if its turned on and how to turn off.

Sounds to me like a port is frozen or something, the same thing practically happened to me this weekend and the guy came and fixed the switch this morning for me, so you might need to check your settings.

lol i just fixed it. I forced the IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS server on the settings. I guess M$' APIPA (auto private ip addressing) messed up my router's DHCP server's IP assigning. Another work of art by M$....Yes I couldve turned it off (in the registry) but it was too troublesome

Thanks metalkobra, and check your control panel for a surprise (cant say it directly in case.....)
