T1 & T2 are command rate cycles.

I would like to note, wile you more often hear of having to run at 2T when overclocking, some ram wont run at 2T. I know because my rig wont boot if I set it to 2T.

1T is much faster operation than 2T.
On some systems it is actually easy to be seen when playing games.
It depends on the cpu, memory and chipset.
Some A64's have much better memory controllers than others.
The Venice has a different controller than the earlier processors.
SanDiago is a later version, should have even a better controller.

yes, you will get better performance with 1T, but depending on your RAM, cpu and motherboard/bios you may or may not be able to run at 1T.
For example, I have TCCD RAM which should be able to run at 1T up to about 300fsb, My venice core processor should be able to run it at these speeds as well. however, due to limitations with my motherboard I cannot run 1T past 240.
in synthetic benchmarks you will see about a 20-30% difference in performance all things being equal between 1T and 2T. 1T having the better performance. However, in real life applications such as games the difference will hardly be noticable. it will be more like 2-4%. this small performance decrease can easily be made up for by overclocking. So while often overclocking requires one to run at a 2T command rate the performance loss can be made up by increased bandwith.
